Description of 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass |
1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible This lovely Cutlass Supreme was purchased by the current owner August 1st, 2006. It had been restored just before purchase. It has lived in the owner’s garage and has seen no rainy days since. The car has been used strictly as a pleasure vehicle for the last 12 years. On several occasions this car was the center of some family celebrations as well. For example, in 2015 it served as the getaway car from the wedding reception of the owner’s son and daughter in-law. There are a lot of great memories surrounding this car and it’s exploits in Athens, Georgia but the owner has retired and decided to downsize and simplify her life. To that end, the owner has asked me to list the car for her on Ebay in the hopes that it will go to a worthy owner who will enjoy and care for it as much as she has. This vehicle is a very nice example of a 1970 Cutlass convertible. It features the original 350, 4-barrel Olds Rocket engine with numbers matching. The engine reflects having been rebuilt shortly prior to the current owner’s tenure. Mechanically, the car runs and drives excellently. The car really makes a great driving impression. It starts right up, goes right into gear and is capable of accelerating quite briskly. The engine does not smoke and is obviously quite strong. The suspension is supple yet firm. Cornering is relatively flat for a car it's size and the responsive steering inspires confidence. The transmission shifts from gear to gear very smoothly and makes no strange noises, same with the differential. The power brakes are smooth and direct with no pulling in one direction or the other, even under hard braking. There are no leaks of any kind, the belts and hoses are in good condition. The coolant is bright green and the oil has just been changed. It is very apparent that this car has received proper care whenever required. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. Other features include automatic transmission, working factory air-conditioning, power steering, power disc brakes, power top and a nice aftermarket stereo. The body appears to be in sound condition (see pictures) with all original panels. There is no evidence of prior collision damage and the car presents very well. The frame and underside are rust free. There are some minor cracks in the paint on the left side of the trunk and at the top of the right rear fender (see pictures) but they show no signs of spreading and are not noticeable from 10 feet away. There is also some evidence of repaired minor rust on the bottom, rear of the left rocker panel (again, see pictures). Other than that, the car looks great! Ebay only allows 24 pictures, but if you go to YouTube to watch the video, you can look in the YouTube “description” for a link to a LOT more pictures, including quite a few of underneath.
1970 Cutlass Supreme - YouTube Video will open in a new window [isdntekvideo]The interior, including the seats, door panels, dash pad and carpet are overall in very good condition. The convertible top has two minor tears but looks good otherwise and operates mechanically as it should with a flick of the switch. The car’s color combination of sky blue with white top and white interior is very appealing and further accentuated by the rally wheels. This would be a fabulous car to keep at a mountain or beach retreat to use for top down fun on vacation, or just to keep at home and drive on sunny days. Given the proven reliability of the Olds drive train it would be equally suitable for a coast to coast driving adventure. The car is currently registered and comes with a clear Georgia title, Georgia Bill of Sale and the original owner’s manual. It also comes with a formal appraisal from 12 years ago by J.P.’s Muscle Cars, LLC that reflects a value then of $25-27,000 USD Buyer is responsible for shipping or pick up. Leave your trailer at home though as this would be a great car to drive home. A $1000. Deposit is required within 48 hours of auction close and full payment must be made within 7 days of auction end. The car is currently garaged at our shop in Watkinsville, Georgia. Our hours are very flexible and the winning bidder will find us very easy to make pick up arrangements with.
