This 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst 15th Anniversary edition not only commemorates an important milestone in the partnership between the manufacturer and the aftermarket performance specialist, but it also marks an important time in Oldsmobile's history. While Detroit was quickly drifting away from the time tested "big engine, rear wheel drive" formula and Olds began offering a front wheel drive alternative for the model, this Cutlass steadfastly held onto its traditional configuration. It's logged fewer than 18,000 miles about a year...and half's worth of driving, by most standards - and has benefitted from obvious good care, so it's in great condition inside, outside and under the hood. The Cutlass had already been a very popular model for quite a while, and when Olds partnered with Hurst for the first time in 1968 to create a limited run, special edition version, the result was an undeniable success. Fifteen years later, this Anniversary edition features a two-toned, black and silver paint scheme, scooped hood and a rear spoiler to set it apart from commonly seen versions of the model. That magnetic color scheme combines with a versatile T-top configuration - the removable panels are in particularly good condition - as well as an opera window to make for a classic that exudes plenty of mid'80s cool. The paint has a nice smooth texture and a strong shine from all angles and the special commemorative decals are still looking sharp - yet another indication this Olds has been very well taken care of. The body alignment is another strong suit, as nice, even gaps surround the doors, hood and decklid - all of which open and close very smoothly. The dark maple interior has been a definite beneficiary of this car's light usage. Everything inside the doors remains in very clean condition - the cloth front bucket and rear bench seats hold the same shape as they did when new and are very comfortable. The carpet lining the floor still looks fresh. The cabin is spacious, with plenty of legroom both fore and aft, and there's a nice collection of comfort and convenience features on hand, including power seats, power windows, tilt wheel, cruise control and air conditioning. The center console carries one of Oldsmobile's most inspired and coveted engineering features - the Hurst/Olds "Lightning Sticks" shifter whose design was a precursor to the paddle shifters we see today. The original factory steering wheel still occupies its position on the column and the dash area beyond it features an assortment of clear, functional gauges (even the factory clock still works), a dash pad that's free of cracks and an AM/FM/Cassette stereo to lend its era-appropriate technology to your time behind the wheel. You don't often come across a classic whose original powerplant is just entering its prime, but that's the situation here. The 5.0 liter high output V8 is armed with a Quadrajet 4-barrel carb and is running in top form, sending a deep, subdued note out of its Flowmaster mufflers, while the 4-speed automatic transmission sitting just behind it features an overdrive gear, so you'll enjoy low, engine sparing revs at highway speeds. This Cutlass is a very strong driver - power brakes with discs up front provide plenty of fade resistant stopping ability and power steering makes navigation easy as this eye-catching, special edition Oldsmobile cruises on its set of very clean 15" stock rims wrapped with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires. With its unusually low mileage and very clean condition, this 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst 15th Anniversary Edition presents a very rare opportunity. Call today!
