Description of 1970 Oldsmobile 442 2 Door Base Hard Top

Not a show car, but this is a VERY nice car with a lot of new parts. This NJ built 442 (Vin 344870E151260) was was delivered new to Timmerman Motor Company in Aiken, SC (as shown on the build sheet) where it remained it's entire life. I purchased the car from a dentist in Aiken, SC with grand intentions of completing a full restoration to put it back to the factory metallic forest green color and white top. I have two daughters getting ready to start college - If you have kids you know the rest of the story... This factory 455 equipped (not numbers matching engine but seems to be period correct - Stamp code is 35M702697) with "J" code heads is nearly spotless underneath with no rust at all. It's almost as if it's never seen rain - it's that clean. The body is VERY straight and just as clean as the underside of the car. Ebay only allows for 24 pics but I can send you images of whatever you want, so please don't hesitate to ask. The odometer shows 87K and is still in good working order. Judging by the overall condition underneath the car I would have to guess that the odometer is accurate, but I have no way of knowing for certain and the title does not list the vehicles mileage. From the factory this car is equipped with:
A/C - Still blowing cold
P/S - Works great with no leaks and appears to have new hoses
P/B - Front disc equipped as shown
Tinted Glass
You can reference the build sheet for all other miscellaneous factory specs and options. The weakest features of the car are the paint and the vinyl dyed front seats. I have a bill of sale from 2004 (Again from Aiken, SC) when the car was last sold and I would have to assume that this is when the paint work took place. The paint isn't awful, but it's not perfect.... The passenger door (as shown in the photo) is starting to peel on the top edges. The metal underneath is not rusting but looks like it was treated with some type of clear coat before the primer was applied. Maybe it was soda or sand blasted and then "treated" after the paint was removed??? There are also two spots around the roof rails that have bubbled as well. The paint isn't perfect by any stretch, but it's still a head turner from 10 feet...The interior looks awesome, but the seats have been vinyl sprayed OEM pearl white. The drivers seat coating is showing some wear on the finish as shown in the photo, however the vinyl itself is perfect and the plastic back and base panel are brand new. I popped the back seat bottom out looking for the build sheet (which was under the front passenger seat) and it was still factory green on the underside edges. It may be the original back seat. No rips or tears on any surface, the door panels are very nice (and NOT vinyl painted), the headliner is beautiful (missing the top shoulder belts as shown), dash has no cracks, the cigarette lighter is missing (however wires are still there with connectors in tact) but the original ash tray is still present, all gauges and warning indicators function, all interior lights appear to be working, glove box is clean, center console is clean and complete, spare tire and matching rim in trunk, carpet is clean, chrome is near perfect condition, engine bay is very clean, front/rear main seals are dry (the oil pan gasket has a very slight leak at a silicone seal - The engine does not look like its ever been apart), transmission shifts smoothly and is not leaking, etc. I have tried to paint the best "written" picture of this car that I can, but again I am limited by the number of actual pictures I can include. I have images of every aspect of this car that I have described in writing and am glad to send them upon request. I have done my best to represent this car as accurately as possible but make no claims to be an Oldsmobile "expert", so please ask ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS. I am glad to help get you what ever additional information or images you require. Bring offers, but please understand that I am not desperate to sell.
