Description of 1967 Other Makes Princess 1100 1100 |
A reluctant sale of my 1967 Vanden Plas Princess 1100. The vehicle provided me with a great many years of trouble free service. The motor was rebuilt in 1993 by a local legend who originally worked for the dealer when the 1100/1300 cars were being sold in this country. The motor was rebuilt due to a snapped crank shaft that happened on my way to Newport. RI. A friend of mine had a new old stock short block with the crank and pistons so my mechanic suggested we rebuild the entire engine. Hot. cold. wet. this motor never gave me any trouble other than the snapped crank shaft of course. From the time the motor was rebuilt to the time it came off the road I only ran synthetic oil in it. I recently took the valve cover off and was surprised to find everything still had a coat of oil on it. Maybe because I used the synthetic oil? This vehicle came from South Africa. In its current state the suspension has deflated and the floors are crumbly. Earlpart in the UK has all the body panels available. This would be a very ambitious restoration project. My guess is someone will pull the motor and put it in an old Mini and then sell the vanden plas bits to make back the cost to transport the car. I'll answer any questions as honestly as I can. I know what it's like to travel a distance to look at a car and find a vehicle that is not as described. Thank you for reading my ad. The car is located just outside of Worcester. MA |
