Description of 1968 Other Makes Alexis |
Up for sale is a 20+ year collection of Alexis Formula Fords. This collection contains 3 new chrome-moly chassis. 1 complete used chassis. 2 Ivey prepared engines. 1 was rebuilt and never run. 2 complete rebuilt and never run Hewland transaxles. steering boxes. radiators. chrome sets of arms and legs. stub axles. nbsp;carburetors. intake manifolds. brake calipers. new rear uprights with casting mold. new valve covers with casting mold. 3 bodies; a rare early 68 Mk14 w/long windscreen and rear duck tail. 69 Mk15 and a 70 Mk18. I also have old log books and a file 3” thick for parts numbers. diagrams. engineering etc. There is so much I may have forgotten exactly what I have but wish to sell the whole lot as a single sale. There is enough in there to build at least 2 complete cars and another 2 rolling chassis. This is the same chassis that I built many years ago that Jeff Snook uses http://www. britishracecar. com/JeffSnook-Alexis-Mk14. htm and another http://www. race-cars. com/carsold/alexis/1056038530/1056038530ss. htm that I built for myself and sold for $25. 00. 00 over 7 years ago and is the car pictured above. sorry it is already sold and what I am selling today is the accumulation of cars and parts. Thank you for your many inquires about these cars and I will try and answer the repeated questions; The car posted on the Ebay ad was mine. was sold and is what these cars look like finished. What is for sale is my total accumulation of 20 years manufacturing these cars and should produce 2 complete cars and 2 complete rolling chassis that will only need engines and transaxles. I manufactured complete rolling chassis. bodies. cast alloy rear uprights. cast alloy valve covers. Alexis emblems. windscreens and all the parts needed for a complete car. 3 of my cars are out there running and very competitive. The photos that Ebay will let me post is only the tip of the iceberg. I also have fire system. windscreen templates. 12SP and 14LM calipers that are unobtainable. I have roughly 20. wheels. tires. brake pedal boxes. shifters. steering shafts. seat. several headers. throttle pedal assemblies. swirl pots. CV drive shafts. donut drive shafts. sway bars. gauges. oil tanks. fuel tank. fabricated engine mounts. front spindles. heim joints. ball joints. and the list goes on and on. There is just too much stuff to come up with a detailed item list. If you wish to email me questions that I can answer I can be contacted at tomz@catzauto. com or directly at 330-550-0022On Dec-10-14 at 07:58:58 PST. seller added the following information:Your question of a complete chassis is answered in 2 new posted photos above. This is the complete and original Alexis chassis I cloned to make new chrome-moly chassis and based all the new fabricated ancillary parts off of. Everything is there including wheels and tires. There is a second new chassis on top of the old chassis. upside down. a third chassis to the right and a fourth in the wooden shipping crate below. Hope this helps. On Dec-10-14 at 10:24:21 PST. seller added the following information:Someone submitted this auction to BAT. "Bring A Trailer" and it is receiving many negative reviews from uneducated tire kickers. I just posted this comment;I am the owner of these so called "scrap yard parts". I have been in this sport 20+ years. not a great driver. but my enjoyment comes from the building of them and watch others race and win. Any knowledgeable FF person knows that the original cars were made of mild steel that were brazed together and had water running through the main rails. That combined with an original chassis that has hit the wall who knows how many times. would you really want to strap yourself in at 100+ MPH and "see what happens?" "A replica chassis. kills it for me?" Rudernst. an original chassis just might kill you so why wouldn't you want a modern built version of the same design? These are not toys! Being a mechanical engineer by trade the choice is very clear. Keep in mind that these are purpose built race cars built to run hard and not Concour trailer queens that have to be able to start and move 10 feet. Somebody said it doesn't look like an Ivey prepared engine. What does an Ivey engine look like? According to VSRA Monoposto rules ONLY a Ford Kent 1600 cc engine with the proper casting number is allowed with no ancillary modifications. but you are allowed to paint it the color of your choice. so other than color there is no different features. The Only thing you are able to do is "blueprint" the engine to maximize factory specifications. I have a fully rebuilt Ivey prepared engine with zero time and a second that will need freshened up but it was also Ivey prepared. ALL of these parts are unobtainable including the long windscreen body and correct Ford 1600 cc engines with the correct casting number and Hewland transaxles are almost non-existent. Many of the castings for the rear uprights. valve covers. pedal box and so on I had molds made and recast all of these parts in alloy and sold them to others for spares. Rosco Brown you are correct as I haven't "touched this particular project in years". but for the right person. with the right passion. it is gold. Unfortunately I am retired and have many more projects than I have time left on this big ball of mud. so up for sale it goes. I truly hope that this will go to a good home to further the sport and keep these cars "alive". Look me up at catzauto dot com. |
