Description of 1967 Other Makes Alpine |
Offered for auction is this 1967 Sunbeam Alpine. Series 5. A true "barn find". the license plates are dated 1979. but do not come with the vehicle. The odometer reads 60. 21 miles. un verified. The car appears to be complete but has not survived it's 35 year storage unscathed. The raccoons and rodents have destroyed the seats and carpeting. but the seat frames remain and could most likely be re-upholstered. The top has also been damaged by critters who added a few "portholes". The 1725 engine is seized. Fuel oil has been injected into the cylinders in hopes that it could possibly soak the engine free. however that is not guaranteed. Understandably. the car is being auctioned "AS IS". The shift lever freely moves through all 5 positions. All knobs and handles are present. The dashboard is intact but the tachometer face is deteriorated. The body is straight and true. Chipped paint shows that it was originally black and has been repainted red. A magnet reveals the presence of filler in the rocker panels only. No holes in the trunk. The floorboards show some surface rust and no holes. The underside of the car was apparently undercoated and is in good shape but with rust on the surfaces of the suspension components. All glass is intact. The windshield is clear but has one star on the passenger side and is probably repairable by a glass shop. The horn ring is missing from the steering column. but there is a good one included. The front grill badge and trim are likewise not on the car but are included and in good shape. The four hubcaps appear to be original. It is in need of work. but is probably very restorable by someone who appreciates the make and model. It at the very least would be a terrific source for restoration parts. Send me your address and I will provide a delivery quote. I will deliver in the continental lower 48 USA. |
