Description of 1934 Ford Other 5 Window Coupe Henry Steel |
This '34 Ford 5 Window Coupe is completely original. The original owner was a preacher from the small town of Bluegrass, irginia. He died around 1959-60 and his family sold it to my step father around 1965. My step father immediately stripped the paint off the body and primed it, hen put it in a barn. It was in the barn for almost 50 years, hen I pulled it out and put it in my heated garage about 3-4 years ago. The car has been off the road since 1960. The title says the original mileage at last transfer was 36,214. It now shows what appears to be 41,xxx. This car was driven very little before it was put away. The car was covered with a canvas tarp under about 2 inches of dust/bird droppings. The 50 year old primer is gone in most places and replaced with light surface rust. The only rust through I have found is a couple tiny pinholes in the rockers and an area in the floor of the trunk where a mouse nest was. The hood paint was not stripped and is faded, ut original. The wheels also have the original paint, s does the spare tire carrier. It has what appears to be the original keys to the ignition, ocking gas cap and locking spare tire. The interior material is all original, ncluding the rubber floor mat. The fabric in the roof is gone, ut the wood is original and not rotted. All windows roll up and down and are not cracked. Theengine appears to be original, ight down to the first year option heater. My step father put a 6 volt electric fuel pump on it from his tractor, ut it comes with the original fuel pump as well. The engine turns free, ut I have never attempted to start it. The mechanical brakes still work, s does the emergency brake. The only things I know to be missing are the door and trunk handles and the center hinge strip where the hood joins. My Step father took them off when he stripped the paint and can't remember where he put them... He might find them someday, ut no promises.I am an old Chevy truck guy and have no knowledge at all about Ford cars. I've been told by numerous knowledgeable people that it is a rare gem. You will be hard pressed to find a more complete, ncut, nrestored example of a classic '34 Coupe. I will answer all questions truthfully andto the best of my ability. You are welcome to come inspect the car, r send a rep to do it for you. This isn't a fire sale, o it will either sell, r stay on my farm until the economy improves... fat chance in current regime. I reserve the right to end this auction if it sells locally. I'm hoping this car finds a home where it will see the road again someday. |
