1940 LaSalle Series 40-5027 Description 1940 LaSalle Series 40-5027 Coupe Extremely rare 2 door coupe model Desirable Beaumont Blue 130hp 322cid “L-Head” V8 Engine 3-Speed Manual Transmission Last year for the modelMotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this 1940s icon. Even today, this brilliant Beaumont Blue, with tan cloth Lasalle 40-5027 coupe, residing previously from the dry state of Texas, defies showing it’s age and still stands tall. The 1940 and final LaSalle was produced in October 1939, and this being its final year (as it had in its first), came with a wide array of semi-custom body styles. The LaSalle was sold as a companion marque of Cadillac from 1927 to 1940. The LaSalle was conceived not as a junior Cadillac, but something more agile and stylish. What emerged was a smaller yet elegant counterpoint to Cadillac’s larger cars, and unlike anything else built by an American automotive manufacturer. Finished in a beautiful “Beaumont Blue”, the paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection, such as stains on the left front fender, hood and a small dent on the front bumper. Front and rear bumpers are chrome have an excellent fit and finish that show well. All trim pieces are present and have a brilliant finish with only very minor signs of age. The weather-stripping surround the doors and glass are in very good condition with no signs of drying, tearing or shrinkage. The headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks. The 16 inch steel wheel with LaSalle center caps show very little signs of marring or curb rash. Inside, the original appearing tan cloth seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible, with excellent matching carpet and floor mats throughout the interior. The door panels and dashboard are matched perfectly the exterior of the car and look fantastic. The art deco gauges offer enough contrast to enhance the entire interior. The headliner mirrors the rest of the cabin and completes the theme. The original equipment steering wheel is in great condition, with normal wear and just a couple of small cracks. This nicely represented LaSalle is equipped with the single carbureted 130 hp, 322 cu. in. L-head V8 engine, three-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with unequal-length A-arms and coil springs, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Included with this car is the original “Operating Hints” manual. Since the LaSalle brand name was based on that of a French explorer, Rene- Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, this is your opportunity to do a little (automotive) exploring yourself… GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Current mileage on the odometer shows 90,169,It is sold as is on a clean & clear mileage exempt title.
