Owned by its current family since 1965! It has one repaint, a new convertible top and regular maintenance over the course of its life. It's believed to have 147,000 original miles. The interior is a true time machine as... it shows minimal wear and tear for its age. The 260 V8 and 4 speed combo is a bullet proof setup that was used in the Falcon lineup among other models. The transmission shifts smooth and the car feels great overall. The 260 idles nicely and runs strong. The power steering is a nice touch on this model and was not seen commonly on the Falcon lineup. With the flip of a switch, the power convertible top folds down and the whole family can be cruising around town in style.
History;
Ford knew that not all people who bought a compact were willing to miss out on premium features. For those who desire style and comfort with their lightweight cars, there was the 1964 Ford Falcon Futura convertible. The Falcon has really come into its own in the classic car market. No longer just the car that fathered the Mustang, the sensible style has matured into an instantly recognizable profile. In fact, these second-generation Falcons seemed to strike a nice balance between American flair and European sensibilities, and the Vintage Burgundy paint represents this perfectly. After all, the deeper hue has the attractiveness of red, but a more sophisticated tone that makes this drop top look more refined. But then you also get those true American touches like the extra wide chrome bumpers, bright factory wheel covers, and Futura-specific aggressive side streak trim that looks like an arrow pointing this Falcon forward.
