Description of 1948 Packard Custom Eight

Offered For sale is my 1948 Packard Custom Eight Victoria Convertible, Showing 53,935 miles(last oil change sticker was done at 53,250 miles on 4-29-63. This is Packard's Top of the line convertible and is a very rare model and extremely hard to find. (1100 made). This is a 22nd series Packard with a 356 CI straight eight with a 127" Wheelbase. This Packard is 100% complete, all original stored in a barn since 1963 and is very well preserved for a 75 year old car. I have owned this car for 10+ years and have collected many used, NOS, and new parts. I have started to restore It but plans have changed as I am now retired and In the process of selling my Packard collection so I can downsize to a smaller home. I have sold 3 already and this will be Packard #4 to be offered for sale.Included in the sale are $13,000 worth of used, NOS and rechromed parts that I have purchased over the last 10 years. Some of these parts are: Rebuilt Carburetor, NOS Wiper Motor,Complete brand new exhaust system, Set of 4 NEW FIRESTONE DELUXE CHAMPION 700-16 4" Wide Whitewall Tires, Kanter front end rebuild kit, Kanter Brake system rebuild kit, New, NOS and used chrome for entire car including bumpers, grille, hood ornament, door and trunk handles, dashboard chrome, 4 beautiful Hubcaps with cloisonne medallions (NO CHIPS), some NOS double lower stainless trim pieces, New tubing and fittings for hydraulic system and much more. This Is a rock solid example of a super RARE car with mostly surface rust. A few minor patches were on floorboards when I purchased car, I de rusted and coated all floors with POR15 and applied new Insulation. Rocker panels very nice, surface rust only, entire trunk floor was chemically de rusted and recoated. Beautiful straight sheetmetal on front was primered to protect against rust. I purchased this car with Intentions of restoring as an everyday driver, but this car is well worth and deserves a full restoration. Engine and transmission condition are unknown, I have never tried to start as fuel tank should be removed and cleaned first. Shift is stuck in gear (car will only roll with clutch depressed). Convertible top mechanism works well, has been lubricated, I temporarily removed cylinders so top can be raised and lowered manually. Have original hydraulic pump plus extra pump included.(runs power top, power windows and power seat), Doors open and close great, NOTE: Any Parts not shown in pictures I do have, and are Included, car is 100% complete. I have all original interior but needs all new upholstery and top canvas. (front seat pads from another Packard were used to be able to sit in car). NOTE: Front end sheet metal is Installed as shown in first 20 pictures, last 20 pictures show car before front sheet metal was installed. CAR IS SOLD AS IS, AS PICTURED, Located in Syracuse NY area, NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS CAR IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PICK UP IN SYRACUSE, NY AREA, Buyers are welcome and encouraged to view car before auction ends. Vehicle has a transferable NY registration in my name and Is ready to transfer to next owner. NOTE: Certified checks need to clear my bank before car will be released for pickup. Thank You and Happy Bidding!!
