The car is not an 1980 but 1991, Ebay will not accept European VINI bought this from an old friend in France. Her father bought it new in Belgium, and after he died she brought it to her summer home. It is a European 740 with a manual five speed. After it was 25 years old I legally imported into the states with EPA, DOT, and customs documents in my name. It has a clean French title. It was a good running car but has became temperamental. It has Bosch Jetronic injection. I changed the tank pump the regular fuel pump, both fuel filters, the injectors, but it is not running well now. The spark plugs are rich, it’ll run through about 2500 to 3000 RPM at an eighth throttle and if you give it more it stalls. I am moving cross country and don’t currently have the ability to pursue it any further. It has two ignition keys, a stack of original documents, and I’m sure some Volvo enthusiast somewhere will appreciate a European five speed it is clean and simple under the hood. Seems to have pretty uniform compression when you crank it, the battery is dead. Insult to injury, the rear window in the hatch got broken at one point. The good news there are two spare seats (some grape stains as it was his vineyard car) and a dog guard included back in the cabin area. OK, last, don’t try to register it in California as they don’t like European cars. Should be safe in any other state of the union. Check with your DMV.Has a few spare parts in the passenger seat floor area. The clear coat is starting to lift on the hood.
