Description of 1959 Edsel Corsair |
1959 Edsel Corsair ConvertibleEquipped with the 332 Express V8 and Mile O Matic 2 speed Auto Transmission Original colors are President Red exterior . Black and Red interior . Black TopOnly 1. 43 1959 Edsel convertibles were built according to the Edsel registry and you don't see many for sale as most are in hands of private collectorsAccording to eBay's completed listings there has not been an Edsel Convertible for sale since late 2014 and only a few are available nationwideThis Edsel runs and drives good for it's age and the fact that it has not ever been a total restoration but certainly is a worthy candidateIt has been repainted at some point in it's past . I think that the interior upholstery may beoriginalThe body does have it's issues with some bubbling of the paint in the lower body panels and there is some rust at the front of both inner rocker panels. The floor pans look good and solid and are the original floors . the quarters have been repaired in the past also and there is some rust in the inner quarter drop off panels where they meet the bottom of the quartersThe interior is presentable but the front seat on the driver's side has 3 seams separatingThe paint is driver quality at best and still looks good from a short distance but upon close inspection you can see the blemishesThe bumpers have very good chrome and some of the other chrome is showing pittingThe convertible top is in good condition and is power assisted and it operates properly The engine was removed in 1990 and rebuilt . it does run well and starts easily . has an exhaust manifold gasket leak on the lh side and you can hear the leakThe original VIN/data tag is still on the vehicleI believe this is an honest and accurate description and I invite you to have a look prior tomaking your purchaseThe values on these models have been slowly but steadily increasing as the desirability ofthe unusual Edsel marque is becoming more popular. many Edsel owners and collectors havemore than one Edsel in their collectionQuestions. you may please call Mark at 314-795-5584 Thank you !
