FAMILY LIMOUSINE- 7-PASSENGER SEDAN. MODEL NUMBER 1651X205. DEPENDING UPON WHERE YOU LOOK. 3 DESCRIPTIONS CALL THIS CAR A LIMOUSINE ANOTHER DESCRIPTION CALLS IT A 7-PASSENGER SEDAN. BOTH HAVE THE SAME WHEEL BASE. ONE WITH WINDOW IN BETWEEN FRONT SEAT AND REAR WEIGH 65 LB. MORE AND BACK IN 1946/47 COST $4495 VERSUS $4331 WHICH WAS QUITE A BIT BACK IN 1946. WHEN I PHONED PACKARD SOME YEARS BACK THEY CALLED MY VEHICLE A “CUSTOM SUPER FAMILY LIMOUSINE” THEY EXPLAINED THAT IN RARITY IT WAS THE RAREST OF THE TWO BOTH SAME BODY STYLE 2126. WHERE ONLY APPROX. 1200+ TOTAL 148″ WHEEL BASED CLIPPERS MANUFACTURED. MOST ALL WITH WINDOWS FOR BUSINESS FOLKS VERY FEW WITHOUT THE WINDOW BETWEEN THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER MAKING IT A VERY RARE VEHICLE. WHETHER THIS IS TRUE OR NOT I HAVE NO IDEA. ALSO BY THE VIN NUMBER THIS PACKARD IS THE 50TH VEHICLE OFF THE PRODUCTION LINE AFTER W. W. II. THE HISTORY SAYS THE VIN NUMBERS STARTED AT 2001. MY VIN NUMBER IS 2051. THIS BEAUTY IS ONE OF MY PRIDE AND JOYS. MOST OF THE CAR LOOKS AS IF IT WHERE FACTORY NEW. WITH 148″ WHEEL BASE. LONGEST WHEEL BASE PUT OUT IN 1946. ITS CONSIDERED A “WAR MACHINE”. IF YOU READ PACKARDS HISTORY. IN 1946 MOST VEHICLE PARTS STORED AWAY WHERE NOT USABLE AFTER W. W. II. SO THEY USED MILITARY LINE TO PRODUCE THE CIVILIAN LINE IN THE FIRST OF 1946 (SOME OF THE DASH CONTROLS ARE NOT ATTACHED TO ANYTHING BUT IN A GENERALS LIMOUSINE WOULD HAVE BEEN) THERE IS NO DIVIDER WINDOW IN THIS LIMO. WHEN I PURCHASED YEARS AGO FROM OUT IN THE PLAINS OF WYOMING HIGH WINDS HAD CREATED PAINT CHIPS MAINLY ON ONE SIDE. WE STRIPPED DOWN TO STEEL. NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THE CAR HAD HER PROFESSIONALLY PRIMED AND REPAINTED BACK TO ORIGINAL FACTORY NEW. INTERIOR HAD SOME REPAIRS FROM AGE AND HAS ALL BEEN UPDATED TO ORIGINAL. ALL HOSES THROUGHOUT THE LIMO WHERE REPLACED DUE TO AGE AND DRY ROT(ALMOST 180′ OF HEATER HOSE. INCLUDING THE TWO HEATERS IN THE REAR PASSENGER COMPARTMENT UNDER REAR SEAT. HAD BOTH REAR MOTORS REBUILT AND HEATER COILS FLUSHED AND SOLDERED IF NEEDED BE. SAME WITH THE FRONT HEATER. ALL AND ANY PARTS NEEDING REPLACED AND UPDATED BECAUSE OF AGE HAVE BEEN REPLACED. WITH AGE ENGINE FINISH HAD CHIPPED. FULLY REPAINTED MOTOR AND PARTS TO ORIGINAL FACTORY COLORS AND ALL HEAD MANIFOLD GASKETS AND EXHAUST GASKETS REPLACED. THIS BEAUTY IS AS CLOSE TO GRADE ONE ORIGINAL AS I’VE EVER SEEN. HAS ONLY 1965 ACTUAL ORIGINAL MILES. PREVIOUS OWNER PURCHASED NEW. USED THE CAR TO MARRY HIS THREE DAUGHTERS AND THE FAMILY LIMO WAS IN HIS FUNERAL PROCESSION IN THE MID 1990′S. MOST- ALL THE GLASS HAS BEEN REPLACED INCLUDING THE WINGS. THIS IS ONE OF MY FLAGSHIP CARS WHEN I DID WEDDINGS AS A SMALL BUSINESS. MY CUSTOMER CLIENTELE PAID MIN. OF $600 PER HOUR TO USE THIS LIMO IN WEDDINGS. I DID 3 WEDDINGS WITH HER AND PUT ONLY ABOUT 80-120 MILES ON HER. I’VE KEPT HER AS ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE. WAS TOLD BY THE PACKARD CLUB THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE OF THESE VEHICLES STILL AROUND. ITS SUPPOSED A VERY RARE CAR. IT HAS A STRONG STRAIGHT 356 CUBIC INCH CLIPPER 8 CYLINDER ENGINE. 3 SPEED TRANSMISSION ON THE STEERING WHEEL. DRIVES LIKE A DREAM. I AM INCLUDING 12 PHOTO’S BUT HAVE ABOUT 40 AVAILABLE E-MAIL ME AT COPLEY CAR@AOL. COM IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE PHOTO’S. THIS OLD BEAUTY IS A REAL DREAM CAR. I HATE SEEING HER GO BUT I HAVE TO MAKE ROOM FOR MY OTHER CARS THAT NEED SOME TLC. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK.
