Description of 1949 Packard CLUB EIGHT COUPE |
1949 PACKARD EIGHT CLUB COUPE Up for auction is a incredibly well preserved Packard. This car was delivered new June 19, 1949 to Ted G. Shafranko of Chicago, Illinois by Northside Motors. He rarely drove it and nearly always took the bus to work, where he was a machine operator for Inland Press. Mr. Shafranko kept all his yearly insurance policies though 1959 which are included in the sale. Ted then sold the car to his neighbor, Jerome who again rarely drove the car the next 22 years. In 1981Jerome transferred the Packard to his son Mitchwho then kept it the next 21 years. In 2002 the car was then sold to Mr. R. Williams who kept it the last 14 years. The paint is all original to the car.Packardnamed the color Egyptian Sand. The paint overall is magnificent. It has had some touch upwhich can be seen on the passenger side down low in one of the photos. Close attention shows some indentation. The original glass thoughout is excellent. The chrome has patina that overall shines well with some fading and light pitting in some areas. With such low miles the trunk, hood and doors shut as they did from the factory. The rubber body mouldings are still soft and good condition. The underside of the car is solid as a rock. The interior is all original and has held up beautifully. The carpets and rubber floor mats are unworn. The back rest on the passenger front seat has a one inchround hole that can be seen in one of the pics. It has a small patch over it that matches moderately well. The wood grain finish everywhere in the interior is astonishing considering thatthe finishes inautomobiles of that era faded and rarely held up well. The interior chrome pieces are nice. The instrument gauges function well. The motor starts immediately, isvery quietand runs like a watch. The transmission feels close to new when shifting the gear handle. This car in the pictures has the original set of tires that came on the car new. Suprisingly it goes down the road just fine with these tires. Normally it runs on a complete extraset of new radials and factory correct Packard colored wheelsto insure that nothing happens tothe original tires. Those are included with car. Included is a copy of the original 1949 title when the Packard was purchased new. Also each of his insurance polices during his ownership. Also the original service policy, title holder, owners manual, keysand 1949 broucher. Here is an opertunity to buy one of the best preserved cars of any make or modelduring this era with 12,408 miles. NO EMAILS Call 503-312-0822 Sid Ask your questions before you bid. |
