Description of 1971 Plymouth GTX Base |
If you were ever in the market for a Mopar muscle machine that will certainly turn heads everywhere it goes, then this is the project for you. I have been restoring this car for the better part of 2 years and unfortunately I have to let it go (FYI - this doesn't mean it's going to be a steal). This is a numbers matching 1971 Plymouth GTX with a 440, PS, and AC options. The fender tag is present along with a clear title. The car is a highly optioned 1 of 30 car. I bought this car off ebay a few years ago from a restoration shop in Michigan and it was in pretty rough shape. I have invested over $35K in body and engine work alone, turning what was once a car destined for the junkyard into one stunning resto-mod GTX. Great care was taken to not alter the car in such a way where it could not be put back to it's complete stock appearance. Here is a list of all the upgrades that have gone into this car. 1. K-Member and all front suspensions parts were torn down, blasted, powder coated, and rebuilt with PST Poly-graphite rebuild kit. New ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, etc.2. PST adjustable strut rod to dial in the alignment for perfect results.3. Borgeson Power Steering upgrade - this unit removes the play and provides modern day steering.4. QA1 adjustable shocks for the front and rear.5. Complete new rear suspension using Mopar SS springs.6. 4 Wheel Disk brakes by Willwood. All new lines and Willwood Tandem Master cylinder with Adjustable proportioning valve.7. Original 8 3/4 489 Rear End - stripped, blasted, powder coated. New Motive 3:55 Gears installed and unit rebuilt. New non-adjustable green bearings pressed on axles.8. New Fuel Tank, straps, regulator, and lines.9. Foose Knuckle Grey Wheels - 17x8 (Front) and 18x9.5 (Rear)10. Nitto NT555 Extreme Tires - 245/45R17 Front and 295/45R18 (Rear) Body Work (1971 Road Runner donor car used for replacement body parts that are not repoped - fenders, doors, roof skin, various patches etc.)1. All body work performed by Texarkana Pro Classics - 4 coats of base and 4 coats of Clear - Color is Magna Steel2. Body was water blasted and then epoxy primed.3. 2 Coats of Lizard Skin Sound Barrier applied to inside of car and trunk.4. 2 Coats of Lizard Skin Thermal Barrier applied to inside of car and trunk.5. Upol Raptor Liner applied to bottom for the car and all wheel wells.6. New Rear Bumper by AMD.7. Have original front bumper, but needs to be rechromed - probably cheaper to buy a new one.8. Air Grabber Hood - Not original, but aftermarket kit installed on Satellite hood. There are still some parts that need to be purchased and installed to make it functional, but the hard part is complete. The Original Engine is being rebuilt by Purifoy Racing and will be a significant upgrade in terms of HP and Fun.1. Block cleaned, bored .030, and honed.2. New custom CNC forged pistons by Racetech.3. New Eagle Rods.4. Edelbrock Performer RPM 84cc heads with mild porting.5. Competition Cam -XR280HR-10 orXR274HR-10 - Haven't decided which one yet - buy this car and you make the choice ! The Original 727 Transmission will need to be rebuilt to account for the engine, but is in good shape. I have not started on the interior with the exception of the dash frame - this was blasted and epoxy primer powder coated, then painted with SEM Trim Black. I have all the seats, dash, front grill, and other assorted trim pieces. There are a few items that need to be sourced that were scavenged off the car from the original owner, such as the variable speed wiper switch. The car will also need to be rewired, but I have most of the old harnesses for anyone who wants to try and go through restore them. Overseas buyers - the car and title will not be released until wire payment has cleared my bank - arrangements for shipping is your responsibility. This car is about 80% ready to be back on the road. This is great time to get the car and finish out the interior to your tastes. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to terminate the auction at anytime. $1000 Non-Refundable deposit required within 48 hours and remaining balance within 7 days. Please feel free to ask questions or make arrangements to see the car. Zero feedback buyers need to contact me before bidding as I will cancel your bids if you don't. |
