Description of 1939 Plymouth Other |
This is an excellent running 1939 Plymouth P8 Deluxe 2 passenger business coupé. I drive it a few times a week and it is a joy to experience what is was like in 1939 to motor about in a beautiful Plymouth. The paint is excellent. The chrome is excellent. The comments you get are amazing. (If you don't want to be noticed in this car buy a Prius. )It was discovered in a Chicago Warehouse after being stored for decades. It was restored to near new condition in the mid to late 1980's and was driven in and around the Chicago Area. It was sold to a California Collector about 2 years ago until I acquired it. The odometer shows 21. 00 miles. The interior is period Mohair Upholstery . original . and and is in great condition. There is some minor discolouration on the head liner. but nothing that couldn’t be cared for and restored to perfection. It is painted Black. with a completely detailed engine ( engine paint is incorrect ) compartment. It is a 3 speed off the column ( deluxe model ) and does NOT have overdrive. Some cracks in rubber mat in trunk. Glass is perfect. Trunk latch will not lock. Doors will lock. The running boards are in excellent shape. and very minor surface rust is seen under the rubber floor mats ( no rugs ). There is certainly no perforation on the floor boards as I have take the rubber up to examine the state of metal there. Hatch Door for cockpit access to the trunk. Lighted license plate ( rear ) Panel Lights - work ; Fog Lamps - work ; Head/Tail Lights - work. The horn is NOT original but . does work. The engine is painted in a non-standard colour ( silver ). The car comes with excellent period accessories. I have period (2) 1939 Worlds Fair California Plates that go with the car. I have two Owners Manuals . one original and one a copy. The original is in fine condition.
