1977 Pontiac “ Can Am†optioned LeMans Documented with 61,700 original Miles

Jim Wangers was the marketing GURU behind the Pontiac Can Am with only 1377 Can Ams built before production ceased. There are very few 70's Pontiac collectables with such low production numbers like the Can Am. These LeMans Sport Coupe's were shipped from the Pontiac Production factory to Wangers shop called "Motortown"for the Can Am conversion. At Motortown the hood hole was cut for the legendary "SHAKER"then the unique spoiler was installed along with the multi color striping and the Can Am call outs.

This Can Am has a build date "02D"which is the last week of February 1977 with a production # 358 as documented by the factory chalk marks on the firewall behind the washer bottle. Please look at the photo of the interior Build TAG as it shows the production # 358-503159 number on the top left side. The second part of the number is stamped on the body "Cowl"tag. The Can Am comes with the P.H.S. Automotive Services Documentation, riginal Pontiac manuals & its original warranty booklet. This Can Am was delivered to Troutwine Auto Sales in Arcanum Ohio on a beautiful Spring day in April of 1977.

This very original 38 year old Can Am has all the originality one would expect with only 61,700 miles on the odometer. You will step back in time when you drive this "NO EXCUSE"Can Am with everyone noticing your factory SHAKER hood, ameo White Paint, port Striping, igh Back Spoiler & Color Keyed Wheels.

This Can Am retains it's 100% original RARE Factory Black Bucket Seats & Sport Console interior. If and when you see one for sale it will almost always have a Red (Firethorn) interior. The highlight in the interior is the Optional Sport Steering wheel, rand Prix dash & gauges which is part of the Can Am option package. The factory black dash pad, ash & gauges are in excellent condition with ALL gauges working properly. The Optional U58 Delco AM/FM Stereo radio & speakers are working & in excellent condition. Please note the interior Trim Build tag confirms the 19R & 19X for Black Interior.

At the heart of this Can Am is the original T/A 6.6 400 that has the correct Y6 Pontiac engine code & VIN stamping on the front of the block. Please note that Can Am's came standard with the Highest output engine the T/A 6.6 which was an option in the Trans Am. The T/A 6.6 is not to be confused with the low-po 6.6 Litre 400. The T/A 6.6 was the Flagship engine for 1977 & was loaded with many high performance goodies. This born with T/A 6.6 has never been apart or out of this Can Am. It is backed by it's original Turbo 400 transmission documented by the Factory tag attached to the case & serial number 77-PG-1406 stamping. The rear differential is the original G80 Safe-T-Track with 3.08 gear. This T/A 6.6 has it's original carburetor # 17057266, tarter # 1108759 with date stamp of 7B24 along with rear springs having original tag # 485719 TU.

This Can Am was repainted at one time by a previous owner & still shines. Keep in mind this Can Am is enjoyed and driven & has some normal chips, ings & scratches that have been touched up. This Can Am retains all it's original glass, oldings & bumpers.

I have owned many classic cars over the years but this Can Am will draw attention ALL the time. Be ready to answer questions & get thumbs up wherever you go!

In June of 2014 I took my Can Am on the Hot Rod Power Tour. I completing the LONG HAUL accumulating 4,500 trouble free miles in 15 days. I want you to know my Can Am needs NOTHING but fuel. Its ready for another trip as far as you can drive it!
