Description of 1986 Pontiac Firebird TRANS AM |
Beautiful Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with red and gray interior. T-Tops with absolutely NO leaks and rubber is in new condition. We spray it with 100% real silicone regularly to keep it soft and supple and in like new condition. The car is so airtight when you close the door, ou need to do it firmly or put the window down a little so the door will close all the way. We have owned this TA since 1990. We purchased it from the second owner which was the son of the first owner. The first owner sold it to his son because he was buying a new one and the son decided to sell it because he and his wife were starting a family and the TA wasn't big enough. When we purchased it, t has 37,000 miles on it and we have put the 23,000 miles on it since. We don't drive it often. Usually just to keep the battery charged a couple times a month when the weather is nice. We won't drive it in the rain, now, tc.... We have taken it a couple times to St Louis, ranson, ureka Springs and other pleasure drives. We were going to keep it forever but we are moving and we downsizing and we won't have room for it. It has always been garaged. We don't drive it on dirt or chat roads, nly black top so there are no rock chips. We purchased the wheels and tires from SLP Performance. They were take offs from Trans Ams. They buy Trans Ams and take off the wheels and tires and put on a bunch of performance items and sell them as Firehawks and others. These wheels and tires were off, believe a 91 Trans Am. I didn't like the original wheels and I love this style. My husband changes the oil every 2,000 miles or less if it's been awhile. We have all the records from oil changes or anything else we have done to the car. I have the original manual that came with the car. My husband is fanatic about keeping it clean. Even when it is in the garage, e wipes it down all the time. The engine is also spotless. He keeps everything clean. When I purchased the car, y brother worked at a Chevrolet dealership and he completely undercoated it. The interior seating is perfect. No holes, un damage or anything. The bag for the t-tops is also perfect. The t-tops are great also and fit very snug. The headliner is starting to sag in a couple places and should be replaced before long. There is a compartment in the back to hide items when you shop or maybe for a few tools, leaning items, hatever. It locks for extra security. The stereo is an Alpine CD player and works great. All the gauges work fine. There are no scratches or damage to the doors or dash area. There is NO rust anywhere! There are no areas on the outside of the car where the paint is missing. There are no dents. The outside edge area where you get in the car, as some missing paint spots from wear getting in and out. The car was repainted by GM because the paint from those years was not performing well. So the local dealer Thompsons Pontiac in Springfield, O did the painting. This was actually before I purchased the car. I have not had any problems with paint coming off, o I guess it did the job. The windows have all been tinted to keep the sun out so there is no sun damage to the interior at all. There is a set of louvers on the back glass area. When I first bought the car, hey were on and I didn't think I would like them but now I love them. They are positioned so they don't block your vision at all. If someone is behind you with bright headlights, t will help to keep the lights out of your eyes. They also hide anything you have in the back area from being seen by unwanted eyes. I don't know what all to tell you about. I could go on and on. As far as the mechanical portion, he engine runs great. It does have a carburetor so it's not the automatic start with the turn of the key. You pump the gas about 4 times, urn the key and she starts right up. The car does have overdrive. LOVE the car!! If I didn't feel it was necessary to get rid of her, would not. My husband sold his vette so I need to sell my baby. Now the bad part. The air conditioning does not work. I took it to an air conditioning shop and they said it was the compressor. So the compressor needs to be replaced and probably the evaporator and a couple other little things which if I had them fix it, t would be $800.00. That's to put it back with the same refrigerant, -12. Now, ome people want to change it to 134. So I have not done anything with it. Whoever purchases it can decide what they would like. Everyone has their own idea. If someone were to fix it themselves, epending on which type you prefer, t would be much cheaper. Most of the charge is labor, hich I'm sure you are well aware of. I am taking in to consideration, he buyer, ixing the air. I would love for someone to buy this car who has the money to make it look like new again! I believe she knows she is gorgeous and she runs like she knows it. Every time I drive it people tell me how beautiful she is and how good she sounds. They can't believe it's a 1986. I live just 11 miles north of Springfield, O in Brighton. Payment and pick up would have to be within 10 days of purchase, nless other arrangements are made. I would need a down payment of $2,000 within 24 hours either by Cashiers Check or Paypal. Pickup and shipping are your responsibility. If you have any questions, lease don't hesitate to ask. I would love your questions and comments. Is there something I forgot to put in? |
