1977 Pontiac TransAm "Smokey and the Bandit" Selling at "No Reserve" I purchased this sweet 1977 Pontiac TransAm from a gentleman who had it stored in his parents garage since the end of his high school years in the 1990's, nd had not seen the light of day until I made the purchase this past summer. If you simply double click on the main picture on the auction page then all 24 pictures will be able to be viewed in the larger size using the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. This is the first time this awesome Pontiac has been offered to the public. Needless to say the tires and wheels that were on this TransAm had seen better days. I was fortunate enough to locate a near flawless set of four Gold Inlay Snowflake Honeycomb wheels with brand new center caps. They were installed with brand new chrome lug nuts after a set of four raised white lettered Cooper Cobra steel belted radial tires with nice tread were mounted and balanced. I will explain everything I found out from the previous owner at point of purchase. The entire front end suspension was replaced including the center link and stabilizer links at 45,000 miles. I was told the current odometer reading at just over 47,000 miles is original, ut I have no way to verify that statement to be factual. The odometer reading comes up blank on the current title. I believe that is normal in most states on all vehicles over 10 years old. I'm selling this TransAm with an open, lean, nd clear Wisconsin title. The prior owner said he had the Positive Traction rear-end all redone and it has 3.55 gears. He said that this is definitely the original 400 engine block that came with this TransAm when it was ordered new in 1977. He had the numbers matching original 400 engine completely rebuilt and drove it less than 2000 miles before it was stored away. He added a high performance Edelbrock Pontiac Performer aluminum intake manifold with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor at the time of the engine rebuild. He said that was the thing to do back in the day. The original 400 cubic inch engine decal is still on the top of the core support. The last owner did not keep the original intake manifold or Quadrajet carburetor. The way this engine was set-up he chose to mount the shaker stationary on the inside of the hood. I know how keeping these cars original means a great deal to some Pontiac owners. I believe the missing items can still be found rather easily with a little online treasure hunting if the new owner would like to put this TransAm back to all original. The seller said the way this car is set-up it used to run in the 11-second range in the quarter mile and would smoke just about anything on the street back then. I changed the battery to a Duralast Gold with 1000 cranking amps, nd changed the oil and oil filter first thing when I purchased this TransAm and it fired right up. Although when I was getting ready to list this Pontiac for sale last week it would start up then die, o a brand new fuel pump and gasket were installed. A brand new starter was also installed at that time. This Bandit car does start right up and idle nicely and I was told the brakes have less than 2,000 miles on them. The engine sounds very strong! I've only driven it around the block by my shop where it is stored. The way this exhaust system was set-up at the time of the engine rebuild was with headers into three inch straight pipes with only catalytic converters in the factory spots on each side of the dual exhaust. These cars used to need to pass through emissions back in those days, ut are currently exempt from any testing. There are straight pipes that run all the way back to the correct chrome TransAm dual exhaust tips that come out in the proper spots behind the rear wheel wells on each side. Needless to say this TransAm is loud and sounds wicked. I did refrain from seeing what this car really has, ecause my fast driving days are long gone. I will leave that experience up to the lucky winning bidder to see if this TransAm is as fast as the gentleman that I bought this car from said it was. This car is being sold as needing a complete restoration where every part should be gone through to make it a nice car again, ut I believe it has all the potential to be an incredibly valuable car. The drivers door will need to be re-aligned. It flung open on the trailer when the car was being brought home, ut it does close alright. There was some patchwork done to the front floors, ut I believe the rest of the floors are original. In my opinion the frame looks in very good condition. Most likely because of the way this car was stored for all of these years. The trunk floor looks in decent condition and still maintains its original trunk floor mat, nd the original TransAm jack, ack stand and crow bar are all in the trunk with a space saver spare. I thought that was very rare to find the original jack and the original floor mat still in the car. The Data Plate proves that this is an original WS4 paint code 19 original Black TransAm. 1977 was the original year for the movie "Smokey and the Bandit." This one would just need the factory TransAm decals to be changed to the script TransAm letters to make it more authentic looking like the Bandit movie car. I believe Phoenix Graphics in Arizona has the entire "Smokey and the Bandit" Gold script lettered decal set-up that is correct to resemble the movie car at a very reasonable price. The Screaming Fire Chicken hood decal has some spots peeled off. The headliner and the entire interior looks in relatively nice condition as shown in the pictures with a brand new set of four beige carpeted floor mats. All of the factory seat belts are still in place. There is a replacement pad on the top of the drivers portion of the dash, therwise the dash looks in very nice shape. I didn't ask if there were any imperfections under that pad, ut the dash does still look presentable. Yes, he pictures don't lie! There is an authentic old school Blaupunkt AM/FM Stereo Cassette player with a detachable face plate with the carrying case still kept in the console. The stereo actually still works and sounds pretty decent. The prior owner ran speaker wire from under the console up over the back seats to the package tray to the Jensen 6x9's that were period correct for back in those days. The factory options include power steering, ower disc brakes, ilt wheel, achometer, ear defogger, port mirrors, nowflake Honeycomb wheels, nd air conditioning. The air conditioning compressor is missing, ut the majority of the a/c system looks to still be in place. I didn't see any evidence of this car ever being involved in any accidents. The body was just touched up in several areas to make it look nicer in pictures, ut I would suggest that this entire body is gone over and this rare highly sought after TransAm gets the restoration it deserves. That being said, do believe it can be driven as is while the work is being done. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1977 Pontiac TransAm with the 6.6 liter 400 cubic inch V8 engine with air conditioning valued at $43,500 in high condition, hich theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, r an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $23,000 in average condition, hich theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, rim, nd mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer! They have the lowest condition value at $14,187 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, ut mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car.The numbers don't lie! This TransAm is a very valuable automobile in any of those conditions! This past January the promotional car from the "Smokey and the Bandit" movie sold for $500,000 dollars at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction. In fact mostly all the TransAm's were selling for at least 6 figures. All of this information I have listed can be looked up and verified to be factual. It is very hard to find a decent WS4 original paint code 19 Ebony Black TransAm to restore nowadays. These TransAm's have consistently shown toescalate in value with each quarter. What you see is exactly what you get! I tried to describe all of the pertinent information, o any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. I am a brutally honest person, o if there is anything else you feel I may have missed, lease ask me any question you like. I pride myself in answering every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. This cool "Smokey and the Bandit" TransAm is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 5-day auction ending Sunday evening at 8:00pm Eastern time, :00pm Central time, nd 5:00pm Pacific time. Please do not bid unless you definitely have all of your funds in order prior to placing your bids. The PayPal deposit needs to be paid within 24 hours, nd the balance within 72 hours. This is a prime opportunity to pick up a bargain and possibly be at the local car shows by this summer. These true WS4 black and gold TransAm's do not come up for sale very often, specially the correct 1977 model year for the "Smokey and the Bandit movie" selling with no reserve. Thank You for taking the time to view my auction! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
