Description of 1979 Pontiac Trans Am |
This 1979 10th Anniversary Pontiac TransAm has just over 18K miles (averaging approximately 500 miles per year) and is still owned by a family of two brothers, one of whom purchased it new. It is in like-new condition, has beenmeticulouslymaintained, and driven once every other week to keep everythingrunning well. Documentation includes the original window sticker, title history, owners manual, original bill of sale, and maintenance records. This car is one of 5,683 made and came loaded including: A/C, cruise control, power windows and locks, power trunk, deluxe interior, all mechanical gauges including tachometer, 4 wheel disc brakes, power antenna, electric rear defroster, AM/FM/8-track stereo, and mirrored t-tops. The anniversary model used a turbo style wheel. This was a brushed aluminum finished rim that shined like chrome with vents along the outsidecircumference and a small center cap. Also included are the original Goodyear Polysteel tires. These were removed and saved after only a few thousand miles. These tires are still in great condition, as shown in the photo. Nothing has been modified or changed on this vehicle aside from currently riding on BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, and a new, aftermarket, battery. Brake pads are original, and still withinusable wear limits. This car has always been garaged and kept under a dust cover. This car has its original paint, with no touch ups ever. There is some minimal oil seepage from the engine mains. This is not unusual for this engine considering the age of the vehicle and having been driven 18k miles. It starts quickly and runs smoothly. This oil seepage is the only maintenance item currently needed, but is not urgent. The trunk release recently stopped operating with the key, butworks fine with the power trunk button located in the glove box. All of the electrical components work well. The analog clock in the vehicle does use the car's battery. Since this isn't driven much, it is hooked up to a trickle charger to avoid the clock from draining the battery to the point of dying. This car was assembled at GM’s Van Nuys, California manufacturing plant and houses the original 403 cubic inch V-8 with a 3-speed TH350 automatic transmission followed by Flowmaster dual exhaust. Extra accessories come with the car such as hood scoop seals, wheel caps, service manuals, t-top covers and the original, loose, Goodyear Polysteel tires.
