The Gran Turismo Omologato or G.T.O. was GM's statement that they were building a performance class automobile. In 1965 the GTO showed up as a trim package added to the LeMans another racing inspired name. That caught the imagination of one young man who recently earned his driver's license. And unlike most of us who waited for years to get the car they dreamed of as a boy his first new car was this very 1965 Pontiac LeMans GTO Convertible. He (and his father) went down to the local Ponti...ac dealership and ticked off nearly every option on the order sheet. It helped that dad was an automotive marketing executive and a gearhead at heart. Needless to say that left an impression. Because that young man remains the owner of this beauty today. Remarkably the car remains a well preserved original. The drivetrain is 100% original from the factory 389 4bbl with factory Air Conditioning the factory 4-speed manual transmission and Safe-T-Track Rearend. The interior and convertible boot are also untouched and original showing well with an even patina. The trunk area is the same. The undercarriage is solid and with a patina one would expect from a well-kept driver. The body is dry and rust free still wearing 100% of her original sheet metal trim badges and emblems. She has had only one repaint in the early 1980's using factory spec paint color and material. All things considered the car shows strong. Documentation includes the original Bill of Sale from Lou Fusz Pontiac St. Louis MO. So if you are looking for more than a toy or a reconstruction but the genuine article that still persists as an example of a quality original in excellent condition then this is your Gee Tee Oh!
