Description of 1960 Pontiac VENTURA 2 DOOR BUBBLE TOP COUPE

1960 PONTIAC VENTURA BUBBLE TOP 2 DOOR HARDTOP

I would grade this in at least FAIR CONDITION

MANUAL STEERING/POWER BRAKES. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE in the Spring of this year and had it transported from Indiana. FYI, I utiized DAS Transport which was very reasonable and prompt. The former owners of this vehicle were less than forthright about it's overall condition. Especially concerning lowet body rust and bondo issues. To say the least I was very dissapointed and mad, however I decided to make the best of it for the summer drives as this was the same model that I had in High School. Gotta re-live some of those memories!

I was hoping that this vehicle would dispace my 66 Chevelle SS and take over it's spot in the garage. Unfortunately for the Poncho, the Chevelle will keep it's place until I find one that's a bit nicer

The former owners had Mickey Moused a bunch of stuff, like putting sheet metal screws where trim screws belonged and using incorrect nuts/bolts. The steering was looser than a goose. The dash was painted white and the glare was so bad you would have to wear sunglasses to tolerate it. I've repaired or adjusted most of the critical issues, however it does need the E-Brake Cables replaced, as they're cut off at the rear end. The front tires were literally ready to fall off the car. I've replaced those with brand new units. Some of the side mouldings are taped on with double back scotch. I've affixed the fender mouldings with clips, which should also be done to the others. The Battery has to be disconected when in storrage, because someone bypassed the switch so the accessory power is on when the switch isn't. Not that hard of fix, but I haven't taken the time to do it. Fuel Gauge Doesn't Work, Interior has minor stains but still looks great

Transmission Indicator needs replaced to reflect correct position of later tranmission points. Rear upper Haedliner Trim Moulding is Missing

Some Blistering on the lower rear of the trunk lid(approx. 9" wide)

Bondo on normal lower areas of outer body faces with some blistering coming through

Rusted out areas of lower floor gussets/supports, frame looks good. Some areas of floorpan have been repaired/sealed with fiberglass/resin. Steering Wheel shows normal crackage, so it's covered

Paint is so-so, with normal age and wear defects. Some clear-coat separation. Bumpers are bleeched out but in decent shape. Mouldings are decent with normal small nicks/dings. The Brakes are pretty much all new, however, for some reason it pulls to the left after everything has been adjusted. I suspect it has to do with the size of the frontbrake line that the previous owner installed. It's been upgraded to a dual master cylinder and I just added a PB Booster to it. The Brake Hoses, Shoes, Cylinders have all been replaced. It has a new Idler Arm and the Steering Gear was recently adjusted. It steers nicely down the highway. It's powered by what we believe to be a 1967 326

The transmission has an aftermarket adapter and appears to be a GM 700R4. Moost of the mechanical seals (Rear end, axles, etc) have been replaced. Front Wheel Bearing Kits. HEI Ignition. New Fuel Tank. Transmission Cooler. Ball Joint Spacers. NO APPARENT LEAKAGE PROBLEMS. Stays clean underneath when parked

The former owner had installed new ball joints and various suspension pieces. I also installed new shocks on the rear. Fronts are good. Wipers, Lights, Blinkers, etc work fine. Windows roll up and down nicely. I get a lot of thumbs up on this car

It's also an excellent color combination and interior choice

There are no doubt other flaws that I failed to mention, but I'm being as forthright as possible and no doubt there are many things in the positive that I've also failed to mention. The RH Door was repainted prior to my purchase and is a bit darker shade then the rest of the paint

OTHER THAN THE BRAKE PULLING ISSUE, I WOULD TRUST THIS VEHICLE TO DRIVE YOU ABOUT ANYWHERE. And for ME, I can still do it with the brake issue...
