Description of 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix |
1962 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX 2 DR SUPER DUTY 389 AUTO VIN TAG AND DATA PLATE, BUILD SHEET BODY NUMNBER 127, VERY EARLY GP THIS IS ONE OF THE CARS WHERE PONTIAC RAN SHORT OF BLOCKS AND USED SOME SUPERDUTY BLOCKS INSTEAD OF THE STANDARD 389 OR 421. THIS CAR CAME WITH THE 389 SD 4 BOLT BLOCK AND 3X2 WHEN I FOUND IT. IT HAD BEEN SITTING SINCE 1979. I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT ENGINE UNTILL I PULLED IT AND CHECKED BLOCK CASTING NUMBER. 541XXX SOMTHING, I DONT REMEMBER ANY MORE. THEN I PULLED PAN AND SAW THE 4BOLT MAINS. WOW! BAD NEWS IS I SOLD OFF THE ENGINE TO PONTIAC GUY AROUND 1985. CAR ALSO HAD POSI REAR, 8-LUGS, CAPS ETC IN GREAT SHAPE. POWER EVERYTHING, TINTED GLASS ETC. I STRIPPED CAR TO A SHELL SOLD OFF THE PARTS. FRAME BROKE IN 2 ON TOWING IT HOME. VERY RUSTY FRAME. I KEPT THE VIN TAG AND DATA PLATE ETC. FOR THE RECORDS. I NEVER TOOK PICS OF THE ENGINE THOUGH. DAMN IT ANYWAY HERE R THE TAGS ETC. ANYONE INTERESTED IN THIS STUFF CAN CONTACT PHS ETC. ABOUT THIS CAR TO SEE WHAT IT S HISTORY WAS. I MAY SEND TO PHS SO THEY CAN RESEARCH THIS ONE. ALTHOUGH I THINK THEY WILL FIND IT WAS NOT CALLED OUT AS A SD ENGINE. ONE THAT GOT AWAY. |
