I purchased this GTO some time ago from the Estate of a school teacher...named Sharon. Yep...true story. She bought this 1970 GTO after her 67 GTO got stolen in April, 1970, Sharon worked exactly 1 mile from home, and drove the car from 1970 to 1981 during the fair weather months, to work. The car accumulated some 20k miles on it up to that point. Sharon put one heck of a 70's era alarm on this car!
I'll speculate a bit here, but...from some of the old pictures I seen of Sharon, she was quite the "dish", and with her husband away most of the time, she got divorced in 1981. With that being said, Sharon got the car in the divorce. A second title was issued in 81 showing purchased she purchased it "new" and 21,000 actual miles in 1981. She then moved and parked the car in the basement garage in 81' and that was it. She locked the basement door so the kids couldn't get in the basement to "play" with her GTO.
Sharons' daughter got married in 1989 and her son in law, who is a acquaintance of mine, got the car up and running again. The GTO was driven here and there throughout the 90's accumulating another 10,000 or so miles over 15 years or so. Ruth acquired Alzheimers in the mid 2000's and the car went back in the basement until 2006. The car now has 34,xxx actual, 100% verifiable and documented miles on it.

I got a phone call one day about the car, and about 5 hours later (3 hour drive, 2 hours of stories about the car) I owned one of the most original, lowest documented mile, 70 GTO Convertibles inexistence. I only collect only rust free and mostly original paint cars, and this car fits the mold nicely. I'm not sure I've seen a more original car.
When I got the car, it had the original plug wires and fan belts on it. It was truly amazing. I think the car had 4 batteries, one set of tires, a carb rebuild..a water pump rebuild, and fluid changes...thats it. When I mean thats it, I really do mean that.
I went through the car with the fine tooth comb when I got it, full tune up, re-cored the radiator, replaced the shocks, rebuilt the carburetor, alternator, and starter on a bench. Replaced the clutch and pressure plate, rear main seal, valve seals. I also went ahead and replaced the timing chain and cogs. The originals have a plastic coating that degrades over 50 years, and little pieces fall in the oil pan. I have been there and done that, so Ialleviated that issue. The valve seals were dry so I changed those as well. I put tires on it, rebuilt the master cylinder front calipers and rear wheel cylinders.
It's really hard to discuss this car in terms that make rational sense. It is a "true" Survivor, a word that is often misused today. This car has the original interior, 100% and is in pretty much perfect shape. The original convertible top which is in excellent 48 year old condition has a new rear window. It wears its' original coat of Palladium Silver paint, which, has its share of a few parking lot dings, but is very rust free, and still presentable, and mostly original.
The engine has never been "painted", or anything like that, has never been out of the car. The exhaust is new, but the gas tank has never been out of it. I have been tempted to pull it and recover the build sheet, which is still there...I boroscoped the ridge on the top of the tank one day and itsthere. I have plenty of other documentation if memory serves me correctly.. such as service records, the PHS, copies of title #1 and #2, the Protect-O-Plate, both original sets of keys...the window sticker, and some other stuff I can't seem to remember.
The car runs and drives like a 30k mile 70 GTO...goesstraight, does not rattle...stops straight, does not leak...and has one hell of a story.
This car is "dead nuts" reliable and always is "ready to drive". I have a pretty extensive collection of "Investment Quality" muscle cars, I've sold off quite a few recently. Idon't really drive them, a house full of growing children limits my time to work on them, so I figured I'd release a piece or two at a time. Please don't ask me "what else do you have for sale?". As I decide to sell something I will list it. My last 2 pieces didn't last but one day on eBay before I sold them, this car is likely to be no exception.
I don't need the money, I'm in no hurry to sell them, but alsounderstand this is not a business for me. I bought these cars eons ago, and as such...I didn't pay post recession prices, so...I can sell them for a reasonable price. However, I am a pretty astute collector and do know what things are worth, I'm happy to make someone a fair deal on a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a truly original, 1 owner 1970 GTO 4 Speed 3.55 posi-traction Convertible.

This car can really be driven anywhere, albeit it is about to turn 50, as such, I've driven it in a few parades, to a few shows and to get ice cream and things with the kids, but remember...the carhasn't had but 100 miles put on it in 5 years or so.

If you have to ask me if the floors are original, or if the quarters are original...this likely isn't the car for you. I think I've made it crystal clear that the car is all original, and virtually "rust free".
Why waste your money on a bondo bucket bench seat 70 GTO Convertible for 35k with shiny paint? Try finding another 4 speed 70 GTO Convertible unrestored like this in the best colors...good luck!
