Description of 1967 Pontiac GTO GTO |
1967 Pontiac GTO ConvertibleBorn With WS 360HP 400CID EngineBorn With Muncie M-20 4 speedBorn With YH Code 3.55 Posi Rear end. The only things not original to this car is, the top...(have original). The convertible top boot, (have original) the ridiculous circa 1993 speakers installed in front door cards (yes, very sad) the tires, the belts, the hoses, wheel cylinders, and wear and tear items. Hood tach was removed in 67 and hood was repainted, have hood tach. Yes, the regimental red paint is 100% original and very, very nice for being 51 years old. This car is as rust free as you can get. In December 1966, D.B. Sallinger, a Airline Pilot for TWA based out of PA traded in his 66 tripower GTO Convertible forthis 67 H.O. convertible. He special ordered it with some "go-fast options, such as the 360HP HO engine, power disc brakes, and a console...a power top for good measure, a hood tach he didn't like. Old D.B parked the car in the summer of 1970 when his 70 455 HO GTO came in, he had to keep up with the Jones' as local lore says...and kept his beloved 67 parked in heated and covered storage, tinkering with it occasionally, but only driving it on the nicest days. The car has accumulated some 40K miles on it in 1986. He gave the car to his son, Peter Sallinger in the fall of 86 as a high school graduation present, but Pete couldn't drive a stick shift. (The 86 High School Sticker still resides inthe window). The car sat back in Pete's garage relatively unused until D.B.'s death in 2015. At that point, the car was completely gone through, belts, hoses, fluids, brakes, carb rebuilt, ect. and a new set of totally inaccurate white wall tires! The car was offered for sale by the original family, inimpeccably well kept condition. This car has never been abused in any way! The interior looks brand new, albeit it is 50 years old. The paint, while showing typical blemishes, shows well! The paint is all original with the exception of the hood, it was repainted in 1967 because D.B. didn't like the hood tach, so he had it removed, but like everything else, is included. Easily recut and reinstalled. Everything works and she runs like a top! The car has 100% all original sheet metal, no repairs, patches, ect. Its DRY! It's original....it exists. I know GTO's very very well and have been collecting them for many years. This is one of myCrown Jewels. I had 3 67 400HO 4 Speed Convertibles. One now belongs to ZZ Top, one belongs to one of theguys from Power Block TV, andthis one can beyours. So, as a recap....original WZ 400 360HP engine. 670 heads 7027063 Carb. original distributor, alternator...I have not checked the starter...trans, aside from the clutch is original to the car. Differential is original as well. This car has never been restored, is fully PHS documented, is 97% as delivered! Is and has always been rust and rot free, has no reproduction parts on it...its just a very nice original car. Find a nice set of original parchment door cards and you are done. Pinchwelds are perfect, ALL original sheetmetal...perfect trunk, perfect floors. This car is absolutely what you've been looking for. Car includes PHS P.O.P buyers order, repop window sticker, original briggs keys... Full payment due within 3 days of auction end! No exceptions! |
