Description of 1965 Pontiac Bonneville |
This is a mostly complete project car I bought in California where it had sat in a dry garage for many years, I had every intention of restoring it, but things have changed and I've now decided to put it up for sale. This 65 Bonneville is a numbers matching 389 factory 4 speed manual car with bucket seats, AC, PS, PB, Soft Ray glass. The transmission is fully rebuilt, the engine has been stripped down by Kelley Automotive in Minnesota, this includes: machined and partial reassemble i.e. new cast pistons with rings/bearings plus the heads have hardened exhaust seats, new cam bearings and brass freeze plugs (which were installed). Les at Pontiac Paradise was going to do the rebuild for me as he has all the parts that are needed. The floors have rust, but the car comes with a good replacement floor (pictured), we had to cut in half when the car was shipped from CA to MN. I also have a complete 3 piece trunk floor (US made), but also a better quality Swedish trunk floor than is available for sale separately to the car for $600. The original rear seats were sun damages and generally trashed, so I have located the correct 65 bucket seats in black. and rear seats (top and bottom) that comes with the car (door panels and other interior will have to be bought new). I'm also including a spare 65 Bonneville dash from an automatic car, but its an easy swap to manual. All the brightwork seems to to with the car...the trunk lid had rust in it, so I've replaced it with a rust free trunk lid now fitted to the car. The convertible top frame is there but the top itself needs to be replaced. The car had the wrong drive shaft when I bought it, but Les at Pontiac Paradise has found one and can be purchased from him, along with other parts that might be missing It would make a wonderful car when restored, but having just finished a 65 2+2 frame off restoration I have I realised I have too many projects and will never finish them all. The factory options are: VIN: 262675X132xxx Body Tag details: The car is located in Hampton, MN, I have a friend who could transport the car across country or to the nearest port for shipping overseas. It has a clean California title in my name. |
