Description of 1960 Pontiac Ventura |
1960 PONTIAC VENTURA My dad purchased this rust free 1960 Pontiac Ventura from the original owners family. It was assembled at the Southgate California Plant the 3rd week of July 1960 and sold new in Santa Ana. It is painted Shoreline Gold with a Shelltone Ivory roof. He is the second registered owner. It is a numbers matching 389 with the 10.25:1 compression engine and 2 barrel coupled to the 4 speed hydramatic transmission. It also has the shaded E-Z-Eye glass, along with power steering and power brakes. The majority of the paint on the car is original, as well the tri-tone fawn interior is original. When purchased from the original owners son the engine was operational, but presently both engine and transmission have been removed for the modification to 425A power and a Borg Warner T-10 four speed. His plan for this car was to build a high performance model similar to Royal Pontiac's Hot Chief 1 and 2. In the day these short wheel base Wide Track Pontiac's were highly sought after by the Week End Warriors and many High Performance cars were factory ordered with few options. He has collected the parts to convert it to a Borg Warner T-10 four speed with the unique Inland dog leg shifter handle as well he has the 4 bolt main bearing caps to convert it to the 425A 4 bolt main block. He has the heater delete firewall plates and the dash heater delete plate as well as the radio delete plate and dash shift indicator delete plate and special shift lever delete collar on the steering column. The tri power and long cast iron 425A exhaust manifolds were also purchased. A standard transmission radiator was also purchased. This includes a NOS Gas Tank and Grill. Along the way he also encountered a complete 425A motor for the swap and purchased it, but later felt it was more correct and original to keep the numbers matching engine and redo it to 425A specs. At age 75 and encountering health problems he is forced to realize he will never complete this project so has asked me to list it on eBay. The car is located in Oliver, British Columbia, Canada, 15 miles north of the Washington State Border in the Okanagan. More pictures available upon request. Please email with any questions. Buyer will be responsible for any and all transportation regarding this sale.
