Description of 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix |
1971 Pontiac Grand Prix
First of all, anyone who knows anything about classic cars knows that a rust free 1971 anything is very rare. The floors have no rust, and have never had rust. The trunk has no rust, and has never had rust. From everything we can see, all of the outer skin on the car, including fenders, doors, quarters, deck lid, and hood, are all original sheet metal with no repairs that we can see. Although this is all true, the car has been repainted at some point in it's life. We are a 40 year plus restoration shop. Because of this, we have the experience and can tell the age of a paint job. We estimate that this paint is approx 10 - 15 years old, and has held up well considering the age. It is far from perfect, but it is very nice in our opinion. If you are looking for a perfect car, or a perfect paint job, this is not your car. But if you are looking for a rust free, really nice driver with an excellent running and driving drive train, this is the one. You can get in this car, hit the key, turn the A/C on, and go anywhere you want to go. It runs perfect, turns perfect, brakes perfect, doesn't rattle, and rides like a dream. The engine makes absolutely no sounds, and is as smooth as it was when it was new. (400 Pontiac) Transmission shifts as it should (Turbo 400). This car does not need any repair, and could be bought and driven immediately without any worries. The paint has it's share of chips and small imperfections, as any car would after 15 years, but in our opinion for the car's age and the paint's age, it is really very nice. The imperfections in the body include a ding in the driver's door, a ding in the right rear sail panel area, and three small paint bubbles on the lower right quarter panel. There are imperfections in the paint, but we are not selling this as a perfect show car, but as a driver, and we believe it looks plenty good enough to have fun with and just enjoy driving it. ------------------------ Please call us at 816-464-2186 for more information.
