Description of 1963 Porsche 356 356B/1600 T6

1963 Porsche 356B (T6) 1600 Super Coupe
History: Mid-year in 1961, he T-6 body was adopted. This new shell is immediately identifiable by the twin rear air grilles, xternal fuel filler door, nd the squared-off front hood. The rear window is also larger and theroof lineis subtly different. A new Super 90 engine (90 DIN horsepower) was also offered. It is interesting to note that all horsepower ratings for 356 Porsches' use the DIN system - the Super 90 delivered 102 horsepower in SAE terms.
The 356B is iconic today, ut in 1959, t made a distinct stylistic break from its predecessor. Many of the changes were practical: body engineering chief Erwin Komenda raised the front and rear bumpers about four inches, o a more useful level. He raised the headlamps as well, hich dramatically increased the throw of light in night driving. These alterations also allowed for improved cooling of the highly improved water-sealed aluminum brakes, hich were widely considered to be the best in the world. The basic platform was enhanced with the Super engines, hich provided more horsepower, rimarily at high rpms.
The 356Bs underwent continual change during their short run from 1960 to 1963. A substantial revision in 1962 gave the 356 a new internal designation, he T6, nd a coupe built by Reutter. Thanks to its large glass area, his four-season edition offered the best visibility of any model with a roof; it has spacious accommodations and is the 356 of choice when rain or cold is a possibility.
Only 2,500 were produced.

We are selling this vehicle as part of an estate and our knowledge of the specifics of these types of vehicles is limited. Based on what we know & what we have been able to look up on www.356a.com & http://www.356a.com/engine_identification.php we've identified that the chassis #211864 is a 1963 Porsche 356 Coupe (T6B) built by Karmann in 1962. See the Karmann badge from the door photo. We were able to identify the corresponding engine serial #P*806142 on the engine case, hich was removed during the rebuild. We still have the engine case and are providing it with the vehicle. See the engine case photo.

We also identified the case casting #48834 & engine type #616/2 (1962 1600 Super). In addition, e identified the transmission serial #72008. Please see the corresponding case casting photo & the transmission photos.
