Exotic Classics is excited to present this meticulously constructed 1971 Porsche Hotrod coupe. This early 911T Coupe was purchased from the Palo Alto, California Porsche dealer on November 14, 1970. It has always been a California car. The car has never had rust and all panels are original. Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, owners manual and original tool kit are all included. The car has been restored and upgraded for a stock appearance, but with more than double the original horsepower.
Details of the build are as follows: Body & Chassis The body & Chassis are unmodified. The paint color is the factory original "light yellow" OEM catalogue #6262. Carrera (1957 OEM) insignia replaces the 911T insignia on engine cover. Original Hella fog lights and H-1 headlights are fitted and 1972-1973 rear view mirrors are installed. All exterior rubber parts are replaced with new OEM parts. A later production OEM 22.5 gallon fuel tank is fitted. An OEM inflatable spare tire with Porsche inflator is included.
Driveline Heres what makes this car special. A 1986 3.2-liter Carrera engine and 916 gearbox are installed in place of the stock 911T 2.2L motor. The installation includes the OEM front fender oil cooler, thermostat and piping. The engine maintains the computer managed fuel injection system with all sheet metal powder-coated. The exhaust system and muffler are all stainless steel (manufactured by the SSI Company) and Jet-Hot coated to near OEM color. Engine compartment and underneath are beautifully detailed. The gearbox has a Quaife LSD (Torsen patent, torquesensing type) installed with axle shafts serviced and new boots. The clutch and linkage are new with an OEM short-shift kit installed. Within the last year a top-end valve job was done along with much related engine detailing and small pans replacement.
Wheels, Tires and Suspension OEM Fuchs 6 & 7 wheels have been anodized within the last year to factory new appearance. Tires are Yokohama ES 100s. New center caps with painted crests have been installed. New OEM A-arms and later production aluminum lower front cross member installed. 5" type front brake calipers; discs replaced. OEM Turbo tie-rods retrofitted. OEM Carrera RS front sway bar fitted, drop links and fittings powder- coated. Later production OEM aluminum rear trailing arms fitted and new later production adjustable spring plates fitted; all bushings replaced at this time. While the rear suspension was apart, the rear calipers were replaced with new ones and the parking brake shoes, components and discs were replaced with all new OEM parts. Later production (SC & Carrera) rear sway bar retrofitted. Bilstein shock absorbers fitted front and rear.
Interior The interior features a 930 steering wheel with cloisonn Porsche crest. Door panels are leather in SC style and lower pockets are leather covered. Period correct Recaro seats done are upholstered in leather with cord inserts; rear jump seats are done to match. Entire interior is done in custom black leather. Carpets are OEM and newly installed with custom floor mats. All instruments have been rebuilt and refinished by Palo Alto Speedometer Co. and clock is a later production OEM quartz model. The car is retrofitted with OEM intermittent windshield wipers. Stereo is a Nakamichi head unit with ADS speakers, amps and crossovers; a custom sub-woofer is fitted. All interior work is by Bascoms of Santa Clara, CA. An Ungo Box security system has been installed. This Porsche has been fully sorted and is a delight to drive.
