1964 Porsche 356C Yellow | | We are offering for sale this very nice 1964 Porsche 356C. The paint and interior are both excellent and look very fresh. The car was plastic bead blasted to bare steel and then repainted in 2011. The fact that the paint still looks fresh after 6 years is a testament to the quality of the finish work. The interior shows and smells just as fresh, likely because the car has travelled only 2000 miles since completion and has been stored in a dry California garage. The car runs and drives excellent as it should. We discovered this car in 2008. It had been sitting in a roller rink in Baton Rouge, LA since 1981 along with a few other collectable cars and motorcycles. We brought it home and went through the process of making it a driver again. It became part of my small personal collection of cars and of course I thought one day we would restore it. Unfortunately, customer's cars always came first so our cars just sat on the side lines. I found an already restored 356SC sunroof car and decided to sell this car. We were commissioned by the buyer of the car to restore the car to a nice driver level. After dismantling the car and blasting the tub and components the floor pans were replaced and it received a very high level paint job and as you can see the gaps are quite good. The chrome was sent out and is in excellent condition. A new leather interior was installed along with German Square Weave carpeting and a fresh correct headliner. We added new 3 point safety belt/shoulder harnesses with the Porsche Emblem on the clasps. While the engine ran good with no issues and the transmission shifted well, we proceeded to cosmetically and somewhat mechanically restore them. The heads were sent out to be completely rebuilt. The cases received new seals, and the engine was reassembled with new piston rings and the fresh cylinder heads. The transmission was resealed, a new clutch was installed and new transmission mounts were installed. The shifter was rebuilt with a new ball socket, and bushings. The suspension received all new bushings and tie rod ends, however the suspension pieces were not blasted and repainted and therefore cosmetically the suspension does not present as nice as the rest of the car. The brake rotors are all excellent and the pads are still quite fresh. We have recently sourced a Convertible D for the owner of this car and he has asked us to sell this car for him now. As you can see by the photos, the engine appears to be original to this car but we are hoping the owner will find the COA so we can be sure. We'll add a copy of that if it is found. We welcome and recommend personal inspection of this car. |
