Description of 1985 Porsche 928 S Euro 5-Speed |
NO RESERVE **** NEW LOWER PRICE!!! **** Description: This is my 1985 928 S Euro 5-speed. This car was a European delivery car then imported to the US. Unlike other Euro 928's this car does not have the UGLY side markers mandated by the US DOT. This car maintains its original clean lines. The car has a clean CarFax. VIN:WP0ZZZ92ZFS841054(eBay doesn't recognize the European VIN).
This car features a unique 1.7 liter twin-screw (roots style) supercharger. This supercharger was developed by 928 Specialists out of Spruce Pine, NC. This car was the test car for this 16v setup and was owned by Dave Roberts of 928 Specialists.
Highlights: CLEAN CARFAX (see report in additional images) 4.7L V8 motor making about 350 WHP MSDS Headers into 3” single exhaust (Sounds AMAZING!) Stainless steel brake lines Hawk Performance Brake Pads Upgraded Front Sway Bar Bilstein Coilover Shocks New Brake Master Cylinder New Piston Rings, Bearings, and Head Gaskets Updated Dynamic Timing Belt Tensioner 5-Speed Manual Gearbox Momo Sport Seats Porsche 930 Steering Wheel Carrera III Wide-Body wheels (235/295 staggered fitment)
Ice-cold AC (Really, I'm not kidding) H4 European Headlight Lenses with HID Lighting Custom Driver/Fog Light Covers GTS Shift Knob Analog Clock Custom Metal Pedals Custom A-Pillar gauge pods (Boost, AFR, Water Temp) Innovate Wide Band Oxygen Sensor Only 113k miles
Exterior: The paint on this car is in excellent condition with only a few minor blemishes. It has been repainted at some point in its life, but the quality is top-notch. Wheels are free of curb rash, but I noticed the clear coat has flaked off slightly on 2 of the wheels (See detailed pics below). I would give this car a 9.5/10 for Exterior Condition.
Interior: The interior is also in excellent condition. Although the front seats have been replaced, they are a very high-quality lightweight Momo racing seat. They are fully adjustable and are very comfortable. Rear quarter panels are straight and not warped. There are many upgrades in the interior like the GTS shifter and the analog clock. Although it appear to have rear AC, it does not – which is a good thing in my book. The AC and blower works great. The stereo headunit is fair, and the sound is only ok - need an amplifier to boost sound level and speakers in the back.
Mechanical: The motor is clean and free from leaks and drips. All boots are in good condition. It has an updated timing belt tensioner (PKensioner) with a timing belt that is only a couple years old but with less than 1,000 miles on the clock. The Supercharger system makes about 6 psi with the current pulley. As it is not intercooled, I would not increase the boost. The car tracks, drives, and brakes straight. With the wide tires in back (295’s) the car can really put the power down. The car has MSDS headers merging into a 3" single exhaust. The car sounds amazing. There are exhaust dump built in, but they are currently capped.
History: This car was one of the iconic cars for 928 Specialists, when they operated in Spruce Pine, NC. Dave Roberts (DR) was the main proprietor, and this was his baby. He spared no expense in keeping this car in top-notch condition. He fell on some hard times and sold the car sometime around 2008. I bought the car in 2012 and it had a blown motor. The previous owner(s) tried to increase power, without re-tuning the engine and they ruined the block. I replaced the engine and re-tuned it properly. This is fully documented on RennList in this forum post: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/716120-85-euro-re-build-thread.html The cars runs great and is fast!
I have slowly been working on the car to bring it back to roadworthy and show condition. I placed 3rd in the 944/924/928 local Porsche Concoursd'Elegance last year. But it’s time to make some room in my garage and send my son off to college. If you would like to arrange for a PPI, please let me know. I have a small lift at my home and have been working on 928’s for the past 16 years. If you have specific question, please let me know. Someone recently asked if this car would pass emissions. I cannot say if it would or not. Michigan does not have emission checks anymore. The car does NOT have catalyticconverters, so those may need to be added to pass. Regardless, I do not warrant or guarantee that this car will pass emissions requirementsin your state. Please check if you need to for this classic car.
