Description of 1966 Porsche 911 |
1966 Porsche 911, Build date 12/21/1965 Thank you for looking at my fully restored 1966 Porsche 911. This is a very nicely restored 911, the car starting as a very rust free California car with all known history being in California. I have restored multiple Porsche 356’s and 911’s over the last 25 years, this being one of the most recent. The car (Information from Porsche supplied COA) Model Year/Type 1966 911 Coupe Production Completion Date 12/21/1965 Optional Equipment Webasto Heater (003 092) Tinted Glass All Around Wheel Caps w/ Crest Engine Number 903300 Transmission Number/Type 226253(902/1) Exterior Paint Color/Code Light Ivory/6604 Interior Material Color/Type Black Leatherette/B Exterior Mirror - Left Phoenix Tires (165/15)
I purchased this car from a Pacific Palisades fireman August 2012. I believe he did not have the car very long, but the previous owner was also in Southern California and there were older stickers on the car from Central California Surf shops. The Kartex shows that the car was originally sold and serviced at Porsche Cars Southeast, Jacksonville Florida. Based on the rust free condition of the car, I believe the car to have spent the majority of its life in California. Mileage stated is what is on the odometer, I would imagine it turned over once.
Restoration Body ·Body was completely disassembled and installed onto chassis dolly.
·Paint and undercoating completely removed.
·Car was taken to GA Coachworks in San Diego for paint and undercoating. www.gacoachworksinc.com
·Car was primed and block sanded multiple times. The bodywork turned outvery straight. All gaps were set using a go-no go gauge. Gaps are excellent.
· GA Coachworks paint matched multiple areas on the car insuring we had the proper shade of Light Ivory.
·Car was sprayed utilizing the PPG 2 stage system.
·Black painted details at the rear vent, gas filler, and interior were sprayed.
·New sound deadening pad from Auto Foreign Services was installed.
Suspension ·Suspension completely disassembled and powder coated semi-gloss black. ·All hardware re-plated either clear or gold zinc. The 66 is a transition year as far as plating goes, both types of plating can be found.
·New wheel bearings, tie rod ends, suspension bushings, and seals were installed.
·Car has original for 1966 4.5 wide wheels.
· Wheels were re-chromed and new Vredestein Sprint Classic 165/70-15 tires were mounted. This is the original tire size and they have a nice looking vintage tread pattern.

·Bruce Crawford restored the wooden steering wheel, and the wood on the dash. He is an artist. www.hardwoodclassicsltd.com
·Original Radio works, a new speaker and antenna were sourced from Germany.
·Gauges were restored by Mo-Ma Manufacturing.
Mechanical ·Original engine was rebuilt by a Porsche factory trained mechanic with over 35 years of 911 experience. Full engine build sheet available, some of the highlights are as follows.

Performance Assessment This911 runs great. I have now put over 200 miles on the car to sort it out. Starts easily, idles good, runs very smooth, pulls strong, brakes well and shifts up and down through all five gearssmoothly. No leaks! All the electrics work. If you would like additional photos or have specific questions please ask. Selling Details I have a few early 911’s and have decided to sell a couple cars to raise funds for a race car project. I highly encourage you or a designate to inspect the carin person. Absent that, I have done my best to accurately represent this Porsche to you. I have sold about 6 cars on EBAY over the years and can provide references if needed. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit to be paid via PayPal within 48 hours.Final payment due within 1 week. The buyer is responsible for securing and paying for shipping/transportation arrangementsfor the car.I will work with the buyer’s transportation company to ensure a smooth and safe loading of the vehicle. I can assist with overseas shipping, have done this before. Feel free to call me with any questions you might have. If you are a marketing firm, please respect that I do not need or desire any help selling my car. Thank you in advance for not calling!
