Description of 1972 Porsche 914 |
This is a high quality replica of a factory 914-6. Built from a bare shell by Cox Motorsports of Kansas City several years back. This build was done with high quality components and has to be one of the better coversions out there. They started with a nice original 4 cyl 914 which was stripped, edia blasted and fitted with steel factory style 914-6 flares. A high quality paint job was applied and then mechanicals were gone through. Engine/trans: a 1972 2.2 911 engine was built to S specs for this car. It has an S crank, ams, istons and heads. Its fitted with 40IDA webers with rain shields and headers. This engine is fast and well built. It has a 901 transaxle which was also rebuilt at the same time. Suspension: Front suspension was upgraded and set up to do autocrossing, ll adjustable suspension with sway bar, odified and reinforced trailing arms with sway bars in the rear as well. 7x8 Fuchs with upgraded Carerra brakes including cross drilled rotors. Interior is a nice original 914 interior in excellent shape. All 911 guages. Only minor cosmetic issues left to sort out. This car runs drives and stops very well and would cost much much more to build. With factory 6 cyl cars appreciating to higher and higher levels, his car gives the same driving experience for much much less. |
