At the time it was introduced, this 1985 Porsche 944, with its front engine and rear wheel drive, represented somewhat of a change from the norm for its world-renowned manufacturer, but this model would go on to become one of Porsche's all time best sellers. This specimen, with its eye-catchingly unique paint, represents a very unique opportunity. It would be considered very lightly travelled for nearly any used car, let alone one more than three decades old, and comes with the original window sticker, owner's manual, book and tools, service receipts and a clean AutoCheck report to prove it's not only avoided any notable collisions, but has also performed its duties for just one owner during its lifetime. The Garnet red metallic shade - a very close neighbor to burgundy - has a unique, almost custom looking appearance, but it's actually the very color this 944 began with. Light usage has combined with plenty of shelter to leave it looking impressive all these years later - you won't find any serious issues, or even variation in its hue, for that matter. The contrasting black elements that give the 944 its distinctive, finished appearance all present very well, including the rubber bumper pads in both front and back, the accents just in front of its rear fenders and the rear spoiler sitting on top of its hatch. Having also steered clear of any obstacles that might otherwise disturb its alignment, the doors and trunk open very easily and the flip up headlights, so often a sticking point for cars of this age, sit nice and flush in their lowered position and raise up to illuminate the road just as intended. The removable hard top panel is a nice plus - it not only tilts up like a sunroof, but it's also easy to remove entirely to provide you with the option of open air motoring when you so choose. Porsche forged a name for itself largely by virtue of its performance on the track, and the bucket seats, with the optional reclining "sport seat" upgrade, sitting at the center of the black leather interior are very much in keeping with that identity, featuring a lot of lateral and hip support to keep you in place during hard cornering. The dash area sitting just beyond the optional 4 spoke steering wheel is another beneficiary of this Porsche's light travels and it's looking good, with a set of very clear gauges glowing red in its instrument cluster and a nice, straight dash pad sitting across the top. Lift the rear hatch and you'll find a surprising amount of storage space inside, with sides and floor lined by carpeting showing no stains or serious discoloration. The 2.5 liter, fuel injected 4 cylinder engine packs surprising potency in its displacement - Porsche would have it no other way - and, combined with a very smooth shifting 5-speed manual transmission and limited slip differential in back, makes this car a lot of fun to drive. The head gaskets were replaced a while back and the fuel lines and injectors were cleaned out to up both performance and dependability. Power disc brakes at all four corners provide prompt, reliable stops and power steering combines with the 944's low to the ground stance to provide impressive agility as it maneuvers on its 15" forged aluminum Porsche wheels outfitted with Mastercraft MC440 tires. A look below reveals a straight, sturdy undercarriage. Mid-80's performance car icons don't come much cleaner than this 1985 Porsche 944. Call today!
