Description of 1990 Porsche 928 GT |
Up for sale is my 1990 928 GT that is 1 of 142 GT's built for that year. I'm the 4th owner and have owned this car for 9 years now. It is Black/Black with 77,300 miles and is in excellent condition. When I purchased the car in 2010 it had 63,253 miles on it. I have maintenance receipts in excess of $63,000 from 1995 with 48,000 miles to present. I have done extensive mechanical work to it during my ownership and the car needs nothing in my opinion. The interior is excellent with no cracks in the dash or pod and the leather is still soft with little to no wear except for one small repair on a seam on the bottom driver seat and evidence of a cell phone once attached to the side of the center console. See pics. The exterior is in great condition with most of the paint still being original. When I first got the car, I had the front bumper and lower rocker guards repainted due to road rash. The hood and fenders are still original paint and do show some road wear. The paint looks great overall and shows very well. Most everything is stock except for an upgraded Porsche CDR220 factory stereo (a period correct Reno is included), stainless steel braided brake lines instead of the rubber ones, upgraded cross drilled Zimmerman rotors, remote door locks and a perfect set of H4's. All speakers were replaced by a previous owner. I currently have the tire pressure monitor system, RDK, disabled. It works but requires tire pressure to be higher than I prefer. Can be enabled with a few minutes work. I'm listing most everything that has been done to the car but the biggest thing that was recently done was motor work by 928 Master Mechanic Sean Ratts at 928 Docs in Dallas. The car had begun to use oil where previously it hadn't. A compression test and leak down verified #8 cylinder being down although the car still ran well. The car was put into storage for two years until the motor was pulled and torn down for inspection. Most all the valve seals were leaking so the heads were completely rebuilt. Number 8 cylinder also showed the rings to be out of spec so he re-ringed all the pistons and installed new rod bearings. The motor was completely resealed. All cylinder walls were in excellent condition, so no further work was needed. The motor is essentially new now. I just finished changing the break-in oil and it is ready to go! It is driving out perfectly. The car has a clean Carfax, all its original owners' manuals and 3 keys with two remotes. Here is a list of most everything that has been done in my ownership: July 2019 - 77,196 Oil change from break-in oil to Amsoil ZRod 20W-50 and new Mann filter March 2019 - 76,492 Motor work as described including new cam chain pads, gaskets and seals New Interstate battery Water pump had been done a few thousand miles earlier with a new Lasso pump and showed no wear New timing belt, cam gears and rebuilt tensioner All new fuel lines and power steering lines - combination of factory, rebuilt and Greg Brown/Precision Motorsports design for fuel New power steering reservoir/filter New antifreeze New pilot and Throw out bearing installed.
