Description of 1955 Replica/Kit Makes

Bespoke 1955 550 Spyder Recreation1st Place Class Winner 2014 Chico Concours De EleganceFeatured in Upcoming June/July Issue of Car Builder MagazineThis is a bespoke recreation of the iconic 550 Spyder hand built by Seduction Motorsports in Scottsdale Arizona. The car is currently registered in the state of California and wears YOM plates registered to the car. The car is finished in correct Porsche #5707 Aqumarinblau using correct color match from Willhoit Restorations. Unique Upholstery of Scottsdale handmade the entire leather interior with hand stitched Rolls Royce Red leather hides. This includes the entire rear firewall covered in leather. seats covered from and back finished in the diamond stitch pattern. and the 'scuff strip' running across the top of the footwell bulkhead. The steering wheel is a correct riveted wood rim piece sourced directly from Moto Lita in the UK for this project. The gauges are period correct replicas with a correct push button start and ignition that even has the key drilled with a period correct key fob. The door handles are drilled as is the custom pedal cluster. The body was painstakingly prepared for paint after being bonded to the hand made chassis. Panel gaps are correct and show the attention to detail that has gone into this car. The fiberglass body spent many hours in the body shop to get the panels true and ready to receive 3 coats of BASF Aquamarine Blue with 4 coats of clear. all professionally cut and buffed several weeks later. The car features hand fabricated and modified pieces reflecting the 'lightening hole' theme throughout including the navigator footboard. center tunnel covers. and even the door handles and custom pedal cluster. Aluminum floors with the side wells covered in aluminum. both with decorative rivets add to the authentic vintage look of this car. Another unique feature are the dual correct Autopulse fuel pumps (non functional) with recreated but correct fuel rails installed in the drivers footwell. just as they were in the original cars. Car sits on wide 5 15" wheels with four wheel disc brakes all around. I even had a set of drum brake covers (that replicate what would have come on the car) drilled with lightening holes just like they did back in the day. The 2180cc Type 1 engine was professionally built using new parts and case by Blackline Racing where it was micro balanced and dyne tuned (The laminated dyno sheet is included with the extensive records for this car). Genuine Weber 48IDA carburetors where port matched to the heads with a Bernie Bergman fan shroud installed. The transaxle was sourced from Rancho Performance and powder coated to match the drive shafts and exhaust with solid shift linkage. A hand built Magnaflow exhaust system was built and powder coated giving the car the perfect exhaust note. A thermostatically controlled external oil cooler is mounted on a custom bracket toward the rear of the car ensures the air-cooled engine is well behaved no mater the temperature or traffic conditions. The cars entire history. including many photos documenting the entire build. delivery. and life up to this point are on a dedicated Facebook page. Please take time to go through this page and the hundreds of photos. The rights to this Facebook page and its contents will be transferred to the new owner upon completion of the sale. The car comes with handmade 'Spyder' emblems which I chose not to install but come with the car along with a correct replica tool kit containing correct Hazet tools and even a replica tire gauge. Also included is the fabric tun no cover for the cockpit and a California Car Cover indoor red fabric cover. Visit the cars Facebook page here for photos and complete history.
