Description of 1958 Rolls-Royce S1 |
I recently undercover this 1958 Bentley in deep south Texas. It had been in storage for a long time. The papers seem to show it was brought into the U.S. in 1978. The car needs restoration but its over 95% all there and solid, not all rusty! The original drivetrain is all there and the straight 6 Bentley motor has oil in it and turns over. The body is very nice. It was painted white long ago. I was told to preserve it. The original color was a lovely cobalt blue. The back glass is out of the car but I have the glass and its NOT cracked. One of the side door glass is cracked, and the windshield has a small crack down low on the passenger side. Most if not all the interior pieces are in the trunk or in the cabin. The leather is in bad shape and needs total replacement. I think with some fresh fuel, a battery and a few weekends of noodling around and she’s run. I would replace the tires, do the brakes, flush the tank and rebuild the carburetors. Then restore the interior and drive it! Then one day repaint the car the original Cobalt Blue. She would be sooooo pretty! The car is in San Antonio Texas, Hawkeye Wills Two One Zero. Five Four Eight, One Three One Zero. Thanks and good luck! |
