Description of 1974 Saab Sonett III |
this Sonett was a terrific back-road sport machine until a little incident with a deer and a ditch ... now it is a quick-build project, needing radiator and hood replacement to be back in action. As it happens, I have everything needed, left over from the two cars I stripped for spares while building up this one ... everything, plus many rare and valuable extras ! This Sonett has all the usual Jack Ashcroft mods - cam, flywheel, intake manifold, 2-bbl carb, big valves, steel gears. In addition, the tranny has been rebuilt with matched ring & pinon gears and new synchros. Wheel bearings are new, as are all the the hydraulic brake, cluctch and wheel cylinders. Electronic ignition module installed. Also has good glass, ashtrays intact, genuine SAAB AM radio, no significant rust, numerous spare parts and Genuine hand-laced leather-like steering wheel wrap. The car was built to participate in the California Melee, which we did in 2009 thru 2012, without a glitch. Google it - there's evidence out there on the web, someplace... Comes with a clear Texas title, lots of books and manuals, classy Melee decals for instant street cred. Guaranteed to turn heads and attract attention. Great project, needs a three day weekend and a case of beer to reassemble and run it. Selling because I sold the hangar where the car resides and all my time and interest are devoted to keeping a couple of old airplanes flying - I'm done with cars. |
