Brief History: Texan and longtime racer, saw the potential to slay Corvettes with the Mustang and created the high performance Shelby “GT 350″.How did the car come to be named a GT 350? Most automotive historians claimthat the inspiration came from a discussion at Shelby American while trying to come up with a name. Carroll Shelby is said to have inquired how manyfeet it was from the office to the workshop buildings. After measuring a distance of 350 feet, the car was called a Shelby Mustang GT350.
1967 marked the start of the second generation of Mustang, in which the Fastback bodydesign was first featured. This Fastback look became a part of the iconic Mustang. Upscale, professional and well off, the buyers Shelby and Ford targeted wanted performance at their disposal but also demanded their performance cars be comfortable and reliable daily drivers.
The 1967 Shelby Mustangs came with the full complement of scoops as well as uniquefiberglass hood, nose and rear deck. The 15x7 wheels were standard with the Goodyear Speedway tires. For 1967 Shelby Mustangs got progressive rate springs that were comfortable on the freeway but stiffened as they were compressed to give good handling. Over the course of the years 2,048 were built, all in the fastback body style. The Shelby GT500 was the Mustang onsteroids with the new big block, a 428 cubic inch Police Interceptor and promptly outsold the 1967 GT350 by nearly two to one. As a result the rarity of the GT350 being 1 of 1,175 is in the mind of collectors today.

Originally shipped on June 7, 1967 to the Ford High Performance Dealer of Harr Motor Co. in Worcester MA and was then traded to Larson Ford, White Plains NY.
