Description of 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser LX |
1990 PZJ70LV-MN LX Land Cruiser in Left Hand Drive -3.5L 5 cylinder 1PZ diesel engine -5spd transmission -Push button vacuum actuated 4wd (just like an FJ62), it works extremely well -Full float rear axle with a tight working limited slip differential -4.56 factory gears in the diffs -LX trim -213,000 original miles, the truck is in KM's but the conversion equals 213k miles. -Factory A/C, blows cold! Idle up works excellent as well. -Power steering, boosted brakes & boosted clutch, disc brakes in front and drum in the rear. -Original Toyota radio/tape, factory rear pintle hitch, original Koito H4 headlights and original jack. All glass is original including the windshield.-Vin #: PZJ70-0001612 When Toyota discontinued the 40-series in 1984 they replaced it with the 70-series. Sadly, we did not get these trucks here in the USA. This truck would compliment an FJ40 very nicely in my opinion since it is what the FJ40 became. This truck is a short wheel base, heavy duty version with top grade LX trim. The heavy duty part included a full float rear axle & overload springs in the rear. The LX trim featured full gauge cluster with tach, cloth interior, carpet vs vinyl on the floor, chrome trim package, power door locks and so forth. The short wheel base gives it an excellent turning radius and makes it very easy around town and to park. Off-road it is maneuverable and nimble. Solid front and rear axle with leaf springs and the ride about like an FJ40. The LSD in the rear axle is tight and gives it an extra edge off-road or on slippery surfaces. The power steering and boosted clutch in this truck are light and make it very easy to drive, even in traffic. Field of vision out of the truck is excellent on all sides. I purchased this truck on a Land Cruiser hunting trip overseas. I imported the truck myself as well. I have performed all the work on the truck myself, 20yrs experience working on Land Cruisers. This truck has been my daily driver since I purchased it last July. I do imports and builds, see my website at www.snlandcruisers.com for more. I usually pick a truck, make it my daily driver and then fix it up a lot. That is exactly what I have done with this truck. I call this a "refurbish", it is not a restoration and it is not just changing the fluids. I go through the entire truck when I do a refurbish and bring everything up to my high standards. The Cruiser has been in Boise, Idaho since November 2017, legally imported and titled here in Idaho. It just passed smog the other day, 36 points below the standard scoring a super low and clean running number of 19! You can see the vin number of the truck de-coded here, the model of this Cruiser is a PZJ70LV-MN. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q?vin=PZJ70-0001612 I have put well over $10,000 into the truck since last July, almost all the parts used in the work have been OEM Toyota. Extremely long list of parts, to much to list every single part but here is a long list; ENGINE: -New timing belt & tensioner. Rear seat got new stuffing in the bottom. -Door panels got new cards, stock coverings were saved rather than replaced. -New OEM front door window runs, both lower and upper. -New OEM rear LHS door weather stripping. -New OEM front door weather stripping for the windows. The truck was painted by the previous owner in the last 1-2yrs. It is a nice paint job, rust was repaired. Meaning, cut out and new steel welded in. There is very little body filler in this truck, you are welcome to check it over with my electronic body filler detector. There are a few very small runs in the clear coat. There are a few chips in the paint here and there. The interior is in nice condition for it's age, as mentioned I have refurbished it here and there. The headliner is original and in very good condition. The chassis and frame are in excellent condition. The frame is completely rust free. It is a really nice truck, very few PZJ70's in LHD in the country, especially with A/C, a FF rear axle and LSD plus 4.56 gears! It is great fun to drive and gets attention everywhere I go in it. I average 20-25mpg depending on driving conditions. Parts are easy to get, I can show you where I get my parts from if you buy the truck. I get these parts on average in 3 days. The truck is easy to work on and very little is no longer available parts wise. I will give you a FSM (factory service manual) for the truck if you buy it on a flash drive. The truck does not have a heater since it is a tropical spec Cruiser. I will include all the parts to install a heater into the truck using OEM parts, a value of over $800. Only known issues with this truck are; -Rear windshield washer doesn't work. One of the few things I have not trouble shot yet. The wiper does work. -A/C compressor started leaking recently. I have an OEM reseal kit in route to me as I type and it is getting resealed next week, the week of 4-16-18. -The LX trim included power door locks. The power door lock switch is long gone and I never sourced a new one in brown. They do still work from the lever, the switch is just gone in the drivers door. -Rear sliding window runs and gaskets are showing their age. They work fine and don't leak that I have noticed but are shrinking a bit. Luckily this truck is a 70-series not an FRP top 73-series so these parts are still available from Toyota unlike on a 73-series. Cost all up to replace it is around $400. It is something that probably should be done in the next 5yrs or less. That is it, I can't think of anything else this truck needs. Pictures are current as of 4-9-18. Contact me for more pictures. To see a video of the engine running go here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us-ijSnldDU Please note this video is more than two months old and is from when I changed the crank pulley, more work has been performed on the truck since this video was taken. |
