Description of 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser |
Here's a 1988 BJ71 short-wheelbase, 70-series Landcruiser from Europe (France, in this case). Left hand drive, original 13B-T turbo diesel motor, H55 5-speed manual transmission. Super rare to find left hand drive and the 13B-t turbo diesel motor together in the same truck as Toyota only sold a limited number in very few markets that were equipped like this. Shows 111,550km as of today (about 69,300 miles). I imported this myself last year and had big plans that don't look like they're going to happen now, so here it is. Starts quickly and easily runs good and strong ("peppy", compared to my 3B powered truck) compression tested good across all cylinders fresh turbo (according to a receipt, in French, from the PO) injectors just rebuilt (at Diesel Forward, in Denver) gauge shows good oil pressure no unusual smoke shifts smoothly Comes with: Ironman springs with 2" lift onboard air compressor (unknown brand) fire extinguisher custom tube bumpers and sliders big ass winch (didn't see a brand on it, but then I didn't look very hard) interior and exterior roll bars super supportive aftermarket seats rally computer (no idea how to work it, instruction manual likely available online) rear mounted jerry can auxiliary lighting no carpets or mats custom diamondplate interior panels side exit exhaust ...and probably more I'm forgetting Wheels are original type, Euro-spec split rims. The four rollers have Goodyear Wrangler 7.50R-16 mounted to them, and they're in good shape--definitely roadworthy. The spare wheel is included, but buyer probably should get a new tire for it. As you can see in the photos, obviously the previous owner has "customized" this one. Maybe not to everyone's taste, but a lot of people seem to like it. Rear roof has been cut off, and a custom aluminum-skinned cover put in its place. Rear "hatch" is a heavy rubberized canvas type material with a clear vinyl window in it. Rear doors have been cut as part of the customization. Not hacked--whoever did it did a nice job on it. The whole thing can be unbolted if desired for a demi-convertible effect. Everyone's going to ask if it has any rust. Yup. If you're looking for a rust-free car, maybe you shouldn't be looking at 31 year old Landcruisers. :-) Floors and frame are solid. Some rust at the bottom of driver's door, and in the rockers. Totally normal for these cars. Unusual when they don't have it. Actual VIN: JT1V0BJ7109001485 eBay doesn't recognize foreign market VIN numbers, hence the 17 zeroes above. I'm sure there's more to say, but that's all I can think of right now. Happy to answer any questions about it. |
