Description of 1966 Triumph Herald CONVERTIBLE |
I bought this car with the intention of keeping it as our summer beach car at our home in Florida, and while awaiting transport to Florida with this ca, the actual car I have been trying to buy for many years finally came up for sale ( 1962 Sunbeam Alpine from the original owner ) and I purchased it too. As nice as the Herald is, I don't have room for everything and will not be driving the Herald since the Alpine has arrived. The Herald was purchased from the estate of the man who was working on it and owned it for over 20 + years. 69000 miles showing and believed to be original. The frame and body and floors and trunk are solid metal with no rust. The engine and suspension are rebuilt as is the transmission. The glass is all good. The convertible top mechanism is in wonderful shape and the top goes up and down easily. The car starts right up and runs well. I have only driven it around the storage facility where our cars are stored but it drives like a nice old Triumph. Fresh battery, gas and a tune up. The body and paint was done about 20 years ago and has some nicks and chips from storage over the past 20 years years. I ordered touch up paint and will be going over the spots and touching up the chips. There is no body damage other than the chips. The paint needs a good polish and wax. The interior and top were redone and are nice and I cleaned them up, and the only parts not finished before the owner passed, was finishing the dashboard switches. The actual wood dash and dash pad and steering wheel were also replaced at some point and are in excellent condition. The guages are there and all work. It is just the few switches for wipers/washers etc. that are not installed. There is no need for a choke switch since the car was upgraded to a Weber carb with an automatic choke. The windshield weatherstripping needs replacement but there is a new weatherstripping included in the trunk along with extra new and used parts the estate provided. The car is in Florida and can be seen or driven if you are interested. - no trades wanted, I don't have room for anything else or I would keep this car . As this is a 52 year old used car, it is sold as is, where is, with no warranties. |
