Description of 1973 Triumph GT6 Mark III

1973 Triumph GT6 MK3 almost complete full restoration. This 1973 Triumph GT6 MK3 was a true barn find. Pulled out of a barn in mid Missouri after hibernating for 19 years beside a little dirty the car was in unbelievable condition. looking at it in the barn after the doors opened the car had a stance of a racer with the headlights being about a foot from the door looking past that you could tell the car was once red and at one time dark green. Immediately I thought white with racing stripes maybe a number on the side build the motor do a full restoration and bring this GT6 fastback back to life. Once the car was home the full restoration began, new diamond pleat interior, new glass and trim, new factory wooden dash, new black carpet through the entire car, custom door panel, new custom fuel tank, new floor pans, had the twin stromeberg carbs completely rebuilt, electric fuel pump, brand new tires, resurfaced wheels, full repaint, then health problems and life events have changed my ability to complete the car. The car is very close to completion but unfortunately i cant complete anymore. The car still needs carbs connected and battery to run, the slave cylinder needs to be connected and bleed for the clutch and a few other ends completed to drive down the road. Little back round info on this beautiful car.The Triumph GT6 is a 6-cylinder sports coupe that was built by Standard-Triumph and based on their popular Triumph Spitfire convertible from 1966-1973. In early 1963, Standard-Triumph commissioned Giovanni Michelotti (notable for designing many models including several for Ferrari & Maserati) to design a GT version of the new Spitfire line. The fastback design was too heavy for the 1147cc output, and the model was shelved. However, the prototype was adopted by the Triumph racing program and its aerodynamics resulted in great success (1st in class at 24-hour Lemans). After re-evaluation the GT6 was born with the Michelotti designed body and the more powerful 6-cylinder Triumph Vitesse engine with a marketing campaign to talk about the racing success.
