Description of 1979 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
Up for bidding is an 1979 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible. This car is in excellent condition for a 36 year old carand has just been brought out of a 5 year storage. The fuel system has been drained and cleaned and the car is running great. This particular beetle was manufactured on July 7, 979 and left the Osnabrueck, est Germany factory on September 20, 979. It was shipped to the port of Los Angeles and delivered toFoothill VW in La Canada, A.The original owner bought the car on December 2, 979 (traded in a 75 Oldsmobile). This car spent several years on display at the Ellington Car Museum in Rogers, N in the 1990's - early 2000's. The top, eadliner and paddingwere replaced in 1991 and looks great. No rips or tears. There is some minor staining on the forward part of the headliner. Only noticeable when the top is down.Top secures tight and comes with the original top boot. 1.6L fuel injected motor runs fine with no problems. I've been running it with fuel injector cleaner to clean up sticky injectors. Slight oil leak common on old VW's possibly from the valve cover. Interior is original with no ripped or torn upholsteryor carpet. New coco mats installed. Dome light, nstruments and original AM/FM radio all work. This beetle was intended for theCalifornia market and has the original factory installed M-27 West Coast emissions equipment installed. Essentially a fuel vapor recovery system. All the components are stillinstalled with no signs of rot or damage. The car was repainted in the past in the original Mars Red. Some minor bubbling on the front of the hood but otherwise in excellent condition. The windshield trim piece has normal signs of blemishing and fading. There is on small patch of rust on the passenger side pan below the battery tray. Again, ormal for a beetle this age. There is a small dent on the rear apron and a small crease on the rear bumper. The tires have plenty of tread with no signs of dry rot. There is a lot of paperwork that comes with the car. Original window sticker, ill of sale, wners manual, VW "birth certificate" from the Stittung AutoMuseum Volkswagen in Germany. Also the original Foothill VW license plate frame and receipts detailing the work that has been done in the past. The car is located in Marble Falls, entral Texas. Clear Texas title. Current Texas registration and inspection. Shipping at buyers expense. I will do everything needed at my end. I will be happy to answer any questions and provide more photos. Thanks for looking and happy bidding |
