1979 Volkswagen 7-passenger Bus Original 44,214 miles! 1.6l w/ 4-speed manual transmission

This T2b (akaLate Bay/Breadloaf/Bay-window)VW bus is a local 3 owner from Atlanta, X. The miles are original (44214) and it has been driven only here in East Texas and the surrounding areas; so there are no snow/salt/rust issues. The first owner purchased it and owned it until his death in late 1996. Right afterthe time of the first owner's death, is son, ho was in a wheelchair, adthought to have it converted into a wheelchair accessiblevan with steering wheel controls; however, his type of van did not have a heavy enough suspension to safely install the lift. As a result, he son parked it in the yard (in 1997) until the 2nd owner, gentleman who is a master mechanicfor the Highway Dept here in Atlanta purchased it in 2008. I have spoken with him and in his words, quot;I put a battery on it, gallons of gas in the tank, nd it cranked up and I drove it off!". He enjoyed it and replaced tires, rakes, v boots, lug wires/spark plugs, urchased and installed the exhaust system from Empi (go to www.empius.com for info about this VW parts/accessories). He also replaced the header with a 77 Porsche header. The radio was replaced with a cd player, nd the chrome beauty rings on the outside of the hub caps are not original. All else is original on this bus. He brushed on bondo where the bus had surface rust only, hich is what is shown in the photos.He sold it to his good friend (the 3rd owner) who has driven it for Sunday afternoon fundand has never intended to sell it until now. His health now requires that he sell it. Transmission is good; clutch is strong and shifts perfectly. Tires are P205/75R14 and are at approx 90%. Sliding door on passenger side works properly.All seats are well-kept. VW's had dealer installed Tecumseh a/c compressors. This compressor is good, owever the coolant line that runs the length of the van needs to be replaced; this would allow the compressor to work and the front and rear a/c to blow cold. An inexpensive repair but one that the current owner is unable to address. Also, he sending unit should be replaced as the fuel gauge shows full when the tank is filled, owever the gauge needle will drop to a half and then a 1/4. The owner said he knows to fill it up every 200 miles and he is good to go.The title is clear and he has personal possession of it. The sale will transfer from the current owner, o the new owner, iththe title and a bill of sale as supporting documents. We are assistinghim by advertising it for him. The vin, 292010383 decodes from left to right as: 2= engine type/Type 2 Van, = model/Micro Bus, = production year/1979 model year, =production after Aug 1, 969, nd 010383 = sequential production serialnumber.

Introduced in 1967,the T2b (or Late Bay) bus wasthe second generation of VW busses and the last of this body style manufactured in Germany for the US. It usesthe rear-engine Volkswagen air-cooled engine, 1.6litre,DIN-rated 35kW (48PS, 7bhp), ir-cooled four-cylinder" boxer" enginemounted in therear with a 4-speed manual transmission.Also, osch L-Jetronic Electronic fuel injection andelectronic ignition. This engine reduced the height of the engine profile, arning it the nickname of "Pancake" or "Suitcase" engine. The focus of the engine was alwayson low-endtorque performance, ot power, nd considered to be a more robust and durable engine than the previous Type 1 (1.1L) engine.
