Description of 1957 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic |
1957 All Original VW Beetle For Sale @ Oldbug.com Incredible all original time capsule 1957 VW Beetle For Sale Up For Auction with NO RESERVE! Oldbug.com is extremely proud to present to the world, his absolutely phenomenal Beetle. All original inside and out, ully documented, antastic history, ow mileage and spectacular condition. This is quite the find. The car is located in Southern California in a private collection but it has spent the majority of its life as a part of the Davella family collection in Connecticut. Davella Volkswagen was one of the nation's earliest VW dealerships, pening in 1951. This car was purchased new through Davella on April 22nd 1957 and was turned in as a trade-in by the original owner in 1974. The condition of the car was so surprising, he dealership kept the car and displayed it on the showroom floor until their closing in the mid 90's. The Davella family kept the car until 2007 when it was sold to a local collector and a few years later it made the trip out to California to its current home. The car is entirely original inside and out and the condition is impressive. As you look at all these photos...keep in mind that what you see is ALL original and not restored in any way! Just meticulously well cared for and preserved. The original mileage on the car is just under 63,000 miles. This is obviously low for a car of this vintage, ut at the same time when you look at the car in detail...it is surprising that it has that many on it! The original owner was fanatical with care, nd the owners since have carried that tradition on. This is THE original paint job...never resprayed! The 57 model year was the last of the "Oval Window" which is considered to many to be the most beautiful of the Beetle body styles. The color combination of this car is also a stand out...that red interior against the black is about as classy as you can get. The deeper you look into this car the more fantastic you realize that it is. Again...I will repeat this until I am blue in the face...this is original stuff here...not restored! Look at how clean that rubber is and the original carpet as well. The seats are fantastic...just the most minor wear to the padding but that material has held up miraculously well. The cleanliness of the seat frames is also a detail to note. You can see a bit of paint wear on the shifter and hand brake...clues to the legitimacy and originality of the car. The car has been fantastically well detailed and preserved, but nothing has been "restored" to make it look better. It is all left as is and untouched...yet cleaned to show level. Door latches still shine bright Being a car that has spent the vast majority of its years in a moist climate and stored indoors, things like the window rubber and interior material has remained amazingly soft. Original key and Davella VW leather key fob. Wipers, rim, verything looks so clean it is hard to imagine that it is 58 years old!! Trim and chrome is wonderful...check out that reflection in the paint... Very clean Handbrake wear Steering wheel is in very clean shape, s is the dash Accessory grab handle is a nice item as is the fantastic VW club badge on the speaker grille. Glass is all original Electricals are all functioning properly The iconic Beetle Out back is the original, umbers matching 36 horse engine Gorgeous original condition in here as well and it runs superb. Looks like it just rolled off the showroom! Nothing quite like a black car to show off body lines...it fits the Beetle perfectly. Gorgeous Bumpers are the originals and the chrome is very clean except for one spot on the front bumper which I will document later in the photos. Interior looks and smells so fantastic...there is NOTHING that matches an original interior in one of these cars. Rear seat looks like it has never had a passenger! Original mohair headliner is holding up impressively well Very nice Slight water stain marks above the drivers door and below the rear window but not offensive. Super clean in the door jams Original carpet is impressive! Normally you see threshold wear here on the drivers side. There is a little wear just forward of the heater vent on this side...but thats it! Excellent Firestone bias ply tires look perfect on the stock wheels Detail of the seat stitching Sun visor Grab handle Accessory jack plug Rollin "Stones"! Impressed yet? Wolfsburg Crest hood badge is original Passenger side horn grille has the block off behind it. Bumper brackets and mount points are excellent Hood seal channel is very clean Matching spare in place Fuel tank, iring cover and trunk liner are in excellent original condition. Hood latch detail as well as original paint finish on the wheel rim Original jack is in place as well Just beautiful all the way around. There are a scant few stone chips and light flaws in the paint as you would expect for an original finish car of this age but they do not detract from the beauty of the car...it truly shows so well! No hits in the front or rear...aprons are super clean and straight. Spare tire well is impressively clean, olid and straight Amazing And of it is so perfectly "untouched". The Kamax markings on the bolts, he seal under the tank...there is nothing like an all original car. Another interior shot... just wow. These cardboard-like protective floor mats with the dealer name on them are fantastic. I have never seen anything quite like them before and the condition is excellent. A wonderful addition to the car and a souvenir of its history. Gorgeous body and paint on this car. Backside of the bumpers is very clean Glove box is still fuzzy inside Original body tag with vin number Wiring is perfect...and check out the back of the speedometer with the VW logo stamp still so bright and clear. Car never had a radio installed and the factory block off plate is in place along with the scrap of seat material that the factory put in over the hole as a little insulation. These are details that are so easily lost with a restored car. One of the cleanest original glove boxes I have ever seen on an Oval. Again...what a car. Have you ever seen a cleaner original 57? Take a peek under the back seat...so clean! Fantastic! Carpet still in wonderful shape in the luggage area Detail of the seat back and luggage rails Wow More great details...the rubber on the seat support and placement of the seat back hook. A car like this that is all original and untouched is an extremely valuable resource for restorers! A few paint chips along the rear seat support. Charter Member of the VW Club of America. And Davella VW dates back to the early days as well, elling VWs since 1951. The underside is extremely solid and rust free. Original undercoating remains intact, nderside of engine is quite clean. Very clean and dry. Super solid!! No rust or repair ever! Engine details are pretty spectacular such as the near flawless original oil bath air cleaner decal and carburetor with the aluminum vin tag. Original engine to the car...documented by the VW birth certificate. All the correct German goodies All the details are here and all untouched and original. There is a stone chip in the original windshield Wiring detail Jack Complete tool roll as well Birth Certificate from VW Awesome!! Fantastic original documentation! The dealership memorabilia is all a part of the amazing history of the car. More history on the car. These mats are epic!! Two different designs of Davella plate frames also included as well as a photo of the dealership. Back to the engine compartment...so beautiful Deck lid latch spot is not buggered up...all so clean. Fantastic Here is a slight spot on the rear bumper with a little fade and scratching...very minimal. The underside of the front overrider has some chrome peeling starting, ut the owner has resisted the urge to replace or re-plate...it is all original and should be treated as such. A true survivor like this car is important...it is all about preservation. Here on the fender edge to the left of the image is a small spot where in the right light you can see a little "wiggle" in the reflection. A minor ding that was probably taken out from te backside long ago. Another similar spot can be seen in this reflection shot...look at the reflection of the other car and see the "wiggle" above the fender. Minor stuff, ut the owner wants to show it all. It is a phenomenal find in this condition...it is not "flawless" but damn if it isn't a mind blower just the same. I would much rather see this sort of repair than the normal fill and re-paint job...this is all original finish and that is a very rare find! In closing this is an extremely rare opportunity to find an Oval era car that is truly all original and unrestored and still in near showroom condition. This car is to be sold at auction...No Reserve That is right...the high bidder will take it home regardless of the sales price. its a risky move on the seller's part...but the condition of the car is such that the sale has potential to break records. We have seen it happen before! Don't miss your chance to place a bid and take this baby home! Keep your eyes on the site for the start and close dates of the auction and watch for seller name " Oldbug.com " on ebay. For More Info...CALL 951 767 1600 or email oldbug@earthlink.net |
