Description of 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Lx |
1981 VW DIESEL RABBIT CADDY PICKUP TRUCK WITH A TDI VNT15 BALL BEARING VARIABLE NOZZLE TURBO AND MANIFOLD, 1/2 TON plus 1000# air overloads 5 SPEED manual. This is a vw caddy like none other. Built by a retired airplane mechanic, it's got all the right stuff to be an ecomodders dream truck! Below are links to this truck's youtube video reviews:https://youtu.be/-ygSK15qaxkhttps://youtu.be/kjD3xlf16Sc Let's list a few things: The chassis is a venerable 1981 vw rabbit caddy delux lx. THIS TRUCK WEIGHS IN AT A MERE 2000# WET. It is in solid fair condition for a 36 year old truck. Minor scratches, dents, rust spots, fading, etc are par for the course.... please review the images and associated YouTube videos that illustrate it's condition a vw 1.6 liter eco diesel, upgraded with a modern tdi vnt15 variable nozzle ball bearing turbine. The induction and exhaust systems for this truck have been masterfully fabricated with FLOW in mind, curved, arched, coned, and belled like a trumpet... Aft of the turbo flows a 2" mandrel bent exhaust with scavenging tapered cone tail pipe. Along and wrapped outside of the 2" exhaust are two 3" x 48" heat exchangers. For a organic rankine cycle to generate additional power from the exhaust waste heat. Scroll expander steam engine included see videos. It has a spanking new battery, starter, and clutch kit. Tires are good, and tread is meaty siped snow tread. Low mileage well cared for personal project truck. |
