Just found out by examining the build sheet that this is actually a 1991 model Eurovan Westfalia Camper. Also just found a full air conditioning system to install in the van which is included in the sale. Yes, this van has a factory VW AAB 5 cylinder Diesel engine-the indestructible, durable, torquey 5 cylinder Diesel. At 200,000 miles this motor is just broken in. At 400,000 miles it's half way through its life cycle. This is a Rare chance for someone in the U.S. to own a European model 1991 Eurovan Westfalia California Camper with 2.4L Diesel engine and 5 speed manual transmission. Yes, this is a 1991 model Eurovan California Camper imported to the U.S. From Germany. eBay does not accept a vehicle as later than 1980 if their system does not recognize the vehicles VIN code-this being a VIN that eBay does not recognize. So in the title it had to be listed as a 1980, with the series of ones for the VIN and a photograph of the VIN plate (included here). The Westfalia California camping kit came with a two burner stove, a sink, a battery or AC powered refrigerator type cooler, two batteries-one a deep cycle RV type, a pop top with two person bed, seating for 5 and a fold down bed in the bottom that sleeps two. This Eurovan is in excellent shape and it's probably the only one of its kind for sale in the United States. It has been legally imported and brought through Customs with EPA and DOT exemption under the 25 year law. This Eurovan is well maintained and rides and drives like new. It achieves fuel economy in the 26 to 32 mpg range, depending on conditions and driving style. I just got 28 mpg on a road trip. The European VIN is WV2ZZZ70ZMH053297. The Audi 5 cylinder diesel motor is plenty torquey and powerful to cruise at 80mph and it is indestructible. The timing belt and water pump were recently replaced. The brakes are good as are the suspension and ball joints. Parts are the same as US Eurovans with the exception of items for the diesel drivetrain which are easy to get from international markets. I now have an air conditioning kit to install. Price is OBO so make an offer. No warranty expressed or implied, vehicle offered and sold as-is. You'll be hard pressed to find another one of these for sale in the U.S. It's hard to find nice examples for sale at affordable prices anywhere in the world for that matter. Most are rust buckets, have twice as many miles, or are available for $35,000 or more. I'll hold the van for pickup for as long as it takes. If you want to fly in and drive it back I'll pick you up at the airport. If you hire a shipper I'll coordinate pickup with the carrier. Thanks for looking.
