I believe I'm the 3rd owner of this vehicle. It was previously owned by a small mom/pop company in Iowa that had it on display at their business for several decades (they almost never drove it). I bought it three years ago for my business and naively thought I'd use it to drive around the country for different events. I'd never owned an antique vehicle like thisbut always thought they looked amazing and that it would be fun to have. Once I got it, I realized this isn't the kind of car you want to be driving for thousands of miles at a time (compared to modern vehicles, it isn't comfortable or safe, for that matter). I ended up driving it to a number of events locallyand also used it to drive around the neighborhood with my kids. You'll never get more waves, honks, or smiles than when driving this car. The car only has 28,500 original miles. I did have the engine replaced (the one in there was not original either), so it runs nicely. When I bought the bus I questioned whether it could really have such low mileage, so I hired an antique car appraiser (who specializes in VW buses) to go check it out. While there was no way of confirming concretely, he did say that he'd never seen a VW bus that was that clean and that based on the undercarriage and some other items, he suspected that the bus indeed only had been driven for ~28k miles. The vehicle is incredibly clean, but of course is over 50 years old, so it has normal wear and tear. You can see the inside has been completely refurbished (before I bought it), and the paint job was apparently done in 2007. There was a DVD player installed and there is a CD player as well, maybe at the same time as the paint job? The paint is in very good shape, but there are a couple minor dings in the paint job (door dings). The horn doesn't work (it did work when I bought it, so it probably just needs a simple fix from someone who knows what they're doing). The battery drains if it sits idle in the garage, so I often have to jump start it if I'm going to drive it after sitting a while (since I only drive it two or three times a year). You'll notice there are two different side mirrors in the first two pictures of the listing. The round mirrors have been replaced with the larger side mirrors. Overall, I love the car and would actually prefer to keep it. It's just a really fun toy to have. That said, my wife is dying for me to get it out of our garage, and I'm not a car guy or particularly handy with cars. It's probably something someone else would get more joy out of than me.
